so, and when she receives the letter I wrote the other day, I think she will be of the same opinion as myself. I intend going to see Miss Genie next Sunday and make up with her, if I can, which I doubt. Well, I must go to plowing, so goodbye till tonight.

I will send your valentine with this. I have had lots of fun with it, but no kiss have I got with it.

Dearly beloved,

In as much as I yesterday received a letter from you, I will now endeavor to reply. Emma, I would have answered your letter last night but I could not have answered it if I had tried. I was at town when I received your letter and I had not read half through it untill an unaccountable feeling began to come over me and it has not left me yet. And I can hardly bear to think of the contents of it, it makes me so sad and hopeless.
