Wednesday evening, November 26, in
the San Jacinto High School auditorium,
a memorable event will take place in the
history of our Jewish community. All the
Synagogues in Houston, with no excep-
tions, will unite in a Thanksgiving Service,
without regard for the kind of Judaism
they represent or their beliefs and prin-
ciples. This is the first time in many
years that such an event has become pos-
sible.
According to present plans, Rabbi
Malev will preach the sermon and every
other Rabbi will participate in the ser-
vice. Cantors Jonas Javna and Philip
Gorodetzer will also have a share in con-
ducting the service. The opening prayer
will be given by Rabbi Max Landman,
the closing prayer by Rabbi Henry Barns-
ton, the Scripture Reading will be by
Rabbi Robert I. Kahn, and, Rabbi Max
Geller will read from the service. Rabbi
Hyman Judah Schachtel will speak
briefly.

A special Bar Mitzvah class in Chaz-
anuth will meet regularly on Tuesday and
Thursday afternoons from 5:30 to 6:00,
room 106 at the Albert Sidney Johnston
High School under the direction of Can-
tor Javna. All boys of Bar Mitzvah age
must attend. All others are invited to at-
tend.
The purpose of the class is to prepare
boys to lead the Sabbath moring service,
and the Cantor will train them in the
traditional ritual and the music of the
Synagogue. No Jewish boy can be said
to be prepared for Jewish life until he
has mastered this very essential skill. Plase
urge your boy to join this class at once.
