ADULT EDUCATION . . .

Division of this group are: Sol Rose,
President; Meyer Bell and Max Zelen,
Vice-Presidents; and Abner Morris,
Secretary. The officers of the Women’s
Division are: Mrs. Julius Kaufman,
President; Mrs. Fred Streusand and
Mrs. Sidney Leiman, Vice-Presidents;
and Mrs. Milton Super, Secretary.
Hebrew classes will be offered both
evenings and afternoons during the
week. The afternoon class in Elemen-
tary Hebrew will meet Wednesday aft-
ernoons from 2:30 to 3:30 under the
leadership of Mrs. Harry Hochstein,
and it is intended for those mothers
who cannot attend evening classes.
Mrs. Paula J. Victor will continue
her classes for the Beth Hayeled moth-
' ers, the time to be announced.
The Advanced Hebrew class for
men will be continued from last year,
under the leadership of Mr. Alter
Greenfield on Tuesday mornings at 11
a.m. Those who attended the class last
year, and any others, who are able to
read Hebrew, and have a small Hebrew
vocabulary, are invited to join.
The evening classes in our adult
education program will meet on Wed-
nesdays, at the same time with the
Confirmation Class and the Choir. The
intention is to make Wednesdays an
activity night in adult education and to
provide an opportunity for parents of
boys and girls in the Confirmation
class and the Choir to take advantage
of the opportunity to increase their
knowledge of Judaism.
There will be three courses in He-
brew given from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.—
in Elementary Hebrew, in Intermedi-
ate Hebrew and in Advanced Hebrew.
The Elementary class will begin with

Hayyah.” This class will be under the
leadership of Mrs. Paula J. Victor.
The class in Advanced Hebrew will
study the “Pirkei Avot” (the Ethics of
the Fathers), one of the most fascinat-
ing ethical books in Rabbinic tradition.
This class will be under the guidance
of Rabbi Samuel Schwartz.
The second hour, from 8:30 to 9:30
p.m. on Wednesday evenings, will be
devoted to a series of lectures on cur-
rent Jewish problems, given by out-
standing leaders in our Jewish and
general community. The details of these
lectures will be announced at a future
date.
There will also be a Glee Club for
Adults which will meet with Cantor
Wagner every Wednesday evening
from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The adult education courses will be
launched during the week beginning
October 26, and the first classes in
Hebrew will be given on Wednesday
afternoon and evening, Oct. 29.
The course in Hebrew Bible with
Rashi’s commentary continues through-
out the year, and it is given every Sab-
bath for an hour before the Minchah
Service, under the leadership of Mr.
Robert Shapiro, distinguished Jewish
scholar, who received his ordination
from the famous Yeshivsh of Volozhin.
Everyone, of course, is invited to at-
tend it.
You may register for any of these
courses in the office of Beth Yeshurun
at any time before the courses start.
There will be no charge for tuition,
and all men and women are cordially
invited to attend.
