You know the answer you give your
children to the question, “Why do I
have to go to school?” It’s usually, “Be-
cause you have so much to learn” or
“You just have to, that’s all,” or “So you
won’t be dumb like your Uncle Clyde!”
Whatever the answer you give, the fact
is that education is a necessary part of
each person’s life whether they’re young
or old. That’s why we urge you to sign
up for one of Sisterhood’s many worth-
while and stimulating Study Group.
You all received a list in the mail of the
courses offered, but to refresh youi
memory, here’s a brief resume:
I Beginners’ Hebrew
II Intermediate Hebrew
HI Bible
IV A Faith For Moderns (Contempo-
rary religious problems and Philo-
sophies. )
V Sisterhood Study-Luncheon (Study
of ethics, both Christian and Jewish.
Luncheon served for 75v.)

Are YOU Ready For The
High Holidays???
Let’s see now . . . you have your new
hat already, you’ve made up your mind
which dress you’re going to wear to
Synagogue, the family’s been invited to
lunch after Rosh Hashanah Services, but
wait . . . you’ve forgotten a couple of
things! Have you purchased a Holiday
tablecloth and a cholla cover? And do
you have a traditional Kiddush cup? And
what about your husband. You’ve been
so busy worring about how you’ll look
that you’ve forgotten about him! Does
he have a Tallith that is his personally
and has meaning each time he puts it
on? And does he grab a yarmulke off the
table just before entering the Sanctuary
or does he own a beautiful, hand-deco-
rated velvet or satin one which is his
alone? If the answer to these questions
is “NO” then it’s high time you visited
the Sisterhood Gift Shop and fill in this
huge gap in your life. And while you’re
in the Gift Shop, please open your eyes
wide and look around at the dozens and
dozens of other gift items that are suit-
BENEFACTORS HONOREES
AT TORAH FUND TEA
The date of Sisterhood’s annual Torah
Fund Tea has been set for Tuesday, No-
vember 7 from 1-3 p.m. at the home of
Mr .and Mrs. E. J. Hoffer, 5326 Braes-
heather. Receiving their Cha’yay 01am
pins at that time will be all the 1967
Benefactors who are honorees of the
afternoon event.
The Torah Fund of the National
Women’s League was established in be-
half of the Jewish Theological Seminary
of America and is the means by which
the program and activities of the Semi-
nary can be directly related to the edu-
cational, spiritual and cultural needs of
our people.
Cha’yay 01am Benefactors are those
who give $100.00 or more in a single
year for the growth of Torah Fund;
however, participants in large and small
amounts are valued in meeting this es-
sential need.
Chai donors annually give $18.00 and
through the use of Torah Fund cards
for the commemoration of occasions,
many Sisterhood members find them-
selves contributors of Chai multiples —
$36, $54, $72—when the year ends.
Torah Fund Boxes are still another
way to contribute to the fund. These
boxes should be turned in at the tea
so that their contests may be counted
and credited. Replacement boxes may
be obtained at that time also.
Mrs. Harry Paine and Mrs. Jake Schu-
man are Cha’yay Olam Chairmen and
Mrs. Jake Davidoff, Treasurer; Chai
Chairman, Mrs. David Barg; Box Chair-
man, Mrs. Sheldon Zwickel. The Card
Chairmen are Mrs. William Perl, Mrs.
A. J. Rosenthal, and Mrs. Ben Kass.
Mrs. Al Gerstenhaber is responsible for
publicity.
Mrs. Norman Rosenthal, Vice-Presi-
dent in charge of Torah Fund activities
says, “Your presence at our November
tea will be a commitment to the per-
petuation of Jewish education. May we
count on you to join us?”
