Manager's Out-of-Town Sale
Tuesday, Jan. 25, was a very
brisk cold day but the students at
PHS met the challenge on the jog-
gingtrail. There were twelve boys
and nine girls finishing in the
reguired time.

with students because: "It's very

The Lady Dogies enter the Dis-
trict Tournament ranked number 1.
The District Tournament will be
played on February 8, 11. and 13th
at Cotulla.
Both teams have played a hard
season and I'm proud of each and
missed, we would have won both
games by 10 points.
This was the Lady Dogies first
loss, but I'm proud of how they all
played

Juanita Alvarez, a para-profes-
sional with 12 years experience,
has been selected as the Westside
Employee of the Week.
Mrs Alvarez graduated from
Pearsall High School in 1979 and
attended San Antonio College She
calls Pearsall her hometown and is
married to Perry Alvarez, also of
Pearsall.
Her hobby is traveling with her
husband She enjoys seafood and
walking
Her favorite book is The Wind-
mills of the Gods and her favorite
movie is Gone With the Wind.
Mrs Alvarez said she enjoyed
working with students because she
liked to sec them learn and to help
them achieve their goals.
Her goal for this years' group of
students was to accomplish their
educational goals
Her goal for her life was to
continue working with children to
their full capacity.
She also listed math and read-
ing as her fas orite subjects i n school.
Her goal for her life was to help
her children be the best they can be
Her favorite subject in school
was math
Both the A and B teams played
tough and exciting games I am
very proud of how they played.

uniforms furnished by the school
Each student was issued an oxford
gray shirt and a pair of kelly green
shirts with numbers and lettering
Almost every student was dressed
out on Tucsdayjust in time to run
the mile.
The times on the mile were ex-
cellent and there were only five
students who did not put enough
effort to pass with a grade of 70,11
minutes for boy sand 13 minutes for
girls. Nineteen boys furnished in
under 8:30 and eight girts finished
in under 10:30.

grade Lady Dogies hosted Dilley
for A and B games The 1 -ady Dogies'
B team lost to Dilley, 10-3. Scoring
for the Dogies were: Vanessa
Corolla, 2 points, and Mandy Keck.
1 point.
The A team defeated Dilley , 25-
19. Scoring for the Lady Dogies
were Christina Perez, 6 points;
Monica Rodrigue/.. 5 points; Sandra
Trevino and Crystal Strong, 4
points; and Jennifer Gutierrez, 2
points.
The overall record for the B
Team's entire season was 7 wins. 7
losses and 2 tics.
The overall record for the A
teams was 6 w ins and 6 losses.
The A Team will compete again
in the District tournament hosted
by Cotulla on February 8, 11 and

The Pearsall 8th grade boys lost
their last two regular season games.
They were to Cotulla, 39-32, and to
Dilley, 39-29. Both arc very good
teams. Our 8th graders only losses
on the year (four) are to those teams.
Our current record is 9-4 and 3 of
those 4 losses were very competi-
tive games.
The boys have been practicing
very hard and looking forward to
representing Pearsall Junior High
in the tournament Mando Reyes,
Mark Fernandez, and Jacob Rendon
are the leading scorers for the

On Monday. February' 1, the
Lady Dogies finished their last regu-
lar season game by hosting the Dil-
ley Wolves. They won the game by
a score of 25-4. They finish their
season 13-0 for the A team and 13-
2 for the B team. The only games
lost were in the Lytle Tournament.

Lady Dogies at Southside tourney
On Friday, January 15, the 8th
grade Lady Dogies left for Southside
to participate in a two day tourna-
ment The Dogic B team played
Floresville on Friday afternoon and
won 24-15. Scoring for the Lady
Dogies were: Cati Ortiz-8, Janice
Lady Dogies at Lytle tourney
On Saturday, January 30. the
7th Grade Lady Dogies traveled to
Lytle to participate in their tourna-
ment. The Lady Dogic B team
played hard against A teams. They
played Jourdanton's starting A team
and took them into overtime and
lost 23-29. They played Dilley's A
team and lost by 1 point, 18-19.
The girls went out and played
hard, showing the other teams that
just because they arc a B team they
can compete against any A team
anytime. The Lady Dogies had
their chances to win both games.
