Carter said she enjoys

years, and 1 wanted them a
little more mature."
Education majors are
required to observe 90 clock
hours, which breaks down to
22 1/2 hours in four different
courses, before they get to
student teaching. So since
Both daughters graduated she had watched teaching
from Sanger High School,
Kellie In 1988 and Donna In
1990. Both now are attending herself,
the University of North
Texas.
At one time,
thought she would graduate
at the same time as Kellie,
who will finish in De-
cember. But Carter said she
doubled up on her courses, so
that she will beat her
daughter and finish In
August.

As part of her student
teaching. Carter observed
Peggy Butler for a few days
and then started teaching
some subjects In the after-

comfortable at the school
because she has known
Principal Alice Madden for
many years. Carter once
sewed for Madden and her
daughters.
Carter received encour-

Freddie, who thought It was a
great for her to go to college
to get her bachelor's degree,
and from her daughters.
"I thoroughly enjoyed
taking classes. I really like
going to school and learn-
ing." she said.
It was never hard for
Carter to make herself study,
but she said she did have a
little bit of a hard time
getting Into the writing part.
Carter already had 12 college
credit hours, so her first
course was sophomore Eng-
lish.
"I went in the first day,
and the teacher said we had
to write an essay. I went
home and asked my
children. ’What's an essay?' I
guess It had been so long
since I had heard that term,"
Carter said with a laugh.
Now Carter Is looking
forward to teaching some-
