The New Testament writer James would he proud —
Edgar Pistole makes a good disciple. Both believe in
practical Christianity.
The hungry, naked, orphan, and the alcoholic con-
cern this present day preacher as well as the lost soul
and the indifferent church member.
“Be ye warmed and filled’’ ... is not enough for this
man. He leads the church in ministering to the needs of
the destitute.

Edgar Pistole says, “The purpose of the church is to.
spread the Word of God”. “To do this”, he says, “the Bi-
ble mqst be available for people to read when they have
the time to do so”. The members of the Tecumseh
Church of Christ are undertaking a project to place Bi-
bles in all places where persons wait, such as coin-laun-
dries, business offices, car service waiting rooms, and in ,
doctor’s offices.
Regular Bibles are provided for adults and beautiful-
ly illustrated New Testaments especially for children
who accompany adults. Hie congregation is thrilled over
this program.

Miller is a graduate of Glen-
ville State College, Glenville,
W. Va., having majored in
elementary education. He at-
tended David Lipscomb College,
Nashville, Tenn., for one year,
The contributions have climbed from $23 a Sunday to
the present budget requirement of $220 a week.
Parking Meter Advertising
As an example of creativeness, Pistole hit upon the
unique idea of using the public parking meter as a way
guiar minister of advertising the latest gospel meeting.
Windham, for FGr |W0 days prjor the meeting, all off-street me- ‘
ters in Tecumseh were rented by the church. Members of
the church placed bags with appropriate information
over the meters to explain the free parking with an invi-
tation to the meeting.
This caused the whole town to start buzzing. Nothing
of its kind had ever been done before by any religious
group in Tecumseh. Follow-up telephone calls proved the
effectiveness of such an unusual approach.
In addition to the above-mentioned activities, the
church in Tecumseh still uses the time-honored ap-
proaches to soul-saving such as Bible correspondence
courses and cottage meetings. However, Edgar Pistole
says he has a hat full of new ideas for 1966.

Work with this small church has supplied all the
challenge a zealous and wide-awake evangelist needs.
From Pistole’s first association with this congregation
back in 1951 as a member doing secular work until tak-
ing on the full-time preaching responsibilities in Novem-
ber, 1964, he has seen the attendance grow from 37 to
but returned to Glenville State 134. . ... . . • •, .
to complete his degree because
it was near to his home.
Sandwiched between his col-
lege years were two years in
the Armed Forces, 13 months
of which were spent near Augs-
burg. During this time he
worked with the Augsburg con-
gregation in his spare time.
He served as rei

more than two years just prior
to moving to Augsburg.
His move to Germany is
sponsored by the Parham Road
Church of Christ, 4705 North-
west, Warren, Ohio.
The regular evangelist in
Augsburg is Heinz Muller, a
native of Germany, who was
converted in the early stages of
mission work begun just after
World War II. He moved to
Augsburg in 1955.
He is fully supported by the
Church of Christ at Moore and
Jackson Streets, Tullahoma,
Tenn., and the general over-
sight of the work there has
been under the direction of-the
Moore Street elders.

A well supplied food store has also been set up by
the church for the same humanitarian purpose.—------
A clothing drive in June of this year proved to be the
key to the public acceptance of the church in Tecumseh,
Mich. At that time Pistole, the local minister, sent out an
emergency radio call for clothing following the disas-
trous tornados in the area. <
People from miles around responded so well that the
church house basement was literally “flooded” with
clothes of all kinds. That which remains of this clothing
has been sorted and placed in a house adjacent to the
preacher’s.'
Not a week goes by but what the church gets calls
for help from needy persons in the community. City offi-
cials seek the church of Christ in these instances. Even a
Catholic lady has offered her services in this: distribu-
