I WIDESPREAD OWNERSHIP
' Or PUBLIC UTILITIES
Public utilities throughout the United
iStates are no longer the property of
groups of capitalists. In fact, the large
number of stockholders in these compa-
nies almost justify calling them co-opera-
tive affairs. The latest figures bhow that
there are over 1,000,060. stockholders in
the nation’s public utilities exclusive of
the raiirpads.
Alongkvith this <4sio/i,sion'of ownership
has come to exist an line part of the man-
agers of speh util ms a feeling of public
duty, so that most public utilities now-
adays are run for the benefit of the com-
munities in whief they serve. In fact,
most public utilities are foremost in all
plans for community betterment.
This company long ago adopted as its
policy the purpose of giving the best of
service at the lowest possible cost as its
4 contribution to the growth of Texas, and
it is glad that its 2100 stockholders have
had a substantial part in the great growth
‘ of this wonderful state.
