* AKATSUKA, Japan (INS) — Being the
only foreigners in a Japanese community
may have its special problems, but the
Robert Yarbrough family has found that
the opportunities far outweigh the diffi-
culties.
Three years ago when the Yarbroughs
moved to Akatsuka, Ibaraki-ken and rented
two Japanese-style houses one for church
use the other for their own dwelling, they
were looked on mainly as a curiosity. In
fact they became a convenient landmark-
in giving directions the local residents
would say “You can find my house easily
—it’s out near the gaijin (foreigner.)’’
But students began to drop by to talk.
Soon some of them were staying for Bible
classes and then others attended church
services. Some young people were baptized
and the Japanese church began to take the
place of the Yarbrough faoiily worship.

Visiting lecturers in a two-week period spanning June 26
July 7 were Fausto Salvoni .of Milan, Italy and Thomas Olbricht.
now of Abilene Christian College.
According to Robert L. Burgess, a
hagen, “Salvoni gave some very deep and penetrating lec-
tures ... Students from Scandinavia and Germany partici
pated in an intensive study in the work and
Holy Spirit as seen from *the Scriptures and
writers in early church history.’’
He added, “Olbrigcht . . . presented a study in depth con-
cerning the problem of the Christian’s answer to the unbeliever.
His lectures showed how the Gospel was presented to unbelievers
in Paul’s time (a study in Acts* and how it his been pre-
sented and argued down through the centuries until today.”
