DON’T TAKE HIS NAME IN VAIN!
Please do not take God’s name in vain
If you would guiltless be.

His name should “hallowed” be.

MEMPHIS, Tn.—Paul Rogers,
minister of the Centerville,
Tennessee Church of Christ, was
named Alumnus of the Year by
the Harding Graduate School of
Religion during the Restoration
Lectureship held on the Harding
Graduate School campus in
April. The plaque presented by
Dean Harold Hazelip to brother
Rogers described him as an
effective church builder, a
persistent and steadfast worker
for the Lord, and a supporter of
Christian education.
Paul, age 40, is married to the
former Judy Johns. They are the
parents of three children. He
received his B.A. degree from
David Lipscomb College and his
M.A. from the Harding Graduate
School of Religion.
Brother Rogers is now in his
nineteenth year as minister of
the Centerville Church of Christ.
During these years, the con-
gregation has expanded in every
phase of its work. The Sunday
School has grown from 260 to
525, the annual contribution from
$19,000 to $15,000. The congrega-
tion has built a new church
building at a cost of $400,000, a
church camp valued at $200,000,
two children’s homes, and other
needed facilities. The total
financial assets of the Centerville
congregation is now estimated at
$1,000,000.
Upon receiving the plaque,
Paul stated that Dr. W. B. West
told him about 15 years ago that
he could either move from
Centerville to a large congrega-
tion or he could stay at Center-
ville and build a large congrega-
tion. He decided to do the latter,
and indeed he has done an
excellent job during this long
tenure of service as minister in
Centerville. He is known
throughout the Centerville area
as a dedicated man who is ready
to give himself in service to the
Lord and to the community. He
serves as a member of the
Board of Directors of the L.P.N.
