His report also showed that

RUBBER HIGHWAYS STAND
FIVE-YEAR TEST WELL
AKRON, O. Oi—Rubber high-
ways and playgrounds Installed
here as tests five years ago are
withstanding the q u 1 c k freezes
and thaws.
There is about five to 7H per
cent of ground rubber in the road
mixture. The rest is asphalt and
other materials. The rubber adds
resiliency to the compound and
allows it to “come and go” better
under extreme changes of tem-
perature. The rubber compound,
unlike asphalt, does not become
brittle when cold and runny
when hot. ■
On test strips, where asphalt
and rubberized paving are laid
side by side, the rubber portions
have held up well. It will take
another five years, however, to
see how much better the rubber-
ized roads are than the asphalt.

F. A. (Flash) Weimann, connoisseur of fine poultry, en-
tertained members of the now defunct Brenham Baseball
club at the Weimann camp near Gun and Rod Club Wednes-
day evening. Chicken barbecue with all the trimmings was
served to about thirty people and was enjoyed by all.
it is a yearly gesture on Wei-
mann’s part to feed the ball club,
club. His party this year was of
the usual high quality.
Weimann has been connected
with local baseball for some
years now, being known to play-
ers and managers over the area
as just "Flash” — the best, dog-
goned equipment manager any
team could wish for.
"Flash” has worked under
three managers since the dia-
mond sport came back after
World War II, and all rate him
tops for the excellent handling
of his important job. Those man-
agers were Frank Becker, Travis
Voclkel, and this past season,
John Wat wood.
If an all-time baseball club
were selected for Brenham, Wei-
mann’s name surely would be a
standout one when the time eame
to pick the "all-time equipment
manager.” He’s tops — in his
baseball job and as an enter-
tainer.
AGGIE PICTURE
Summarizing the Texas A A M
football picture for the coming
season in “Facts And Figures” on
the 1951 club, Kenneth Bond,
UsoKte Publicity. Plr‘£,or ot the
- college says: - ■ ?
* “A 4 M lost' 10 lettermerr iro.n '
the 1950 team, and every one of
these players lettered as a line-
sman. Although most of these 10
can be replaced, their loss leave*
the Aggies thin in r e s er v e
strength at guard and linebacker.
“But the Senior-heavy roster of
1951 has a potential which can-
not be fully measured at thi*
time. After the victoryles* day*
of 1948 and 1949. the squad ha*
a great desire to win, *nd keep
