THANKS, PREACHERS!
Last Sunday we were blessed with three dynamic sermons, by Deacon Alice Griffin,
Deaconess Laura Mullins, and Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Evans. Yes, only one is a ‘minister.’
But what is a sermon? It is any organized expression of your faith in Jesus Christ that
appeals to somebody else to share that faith. And all three of these ladies, chosen not
because they are preachers, but because they are superb Christian mothers who have
instilled their faith in Jesus in their children. If you were home visiting your own Mom
(or if you are a Mom visiting with your children), order the tapes of these three powerful
sermons today! And, ladies, your church thanks you for those sermons!
HE’S BAAACK!
Last Tuesday night, after an absence of 38 days, nearly a month of them in the hospital,
Minister of Music Hanq Neal walked into the sanctuary where the Unity Choir was in
rehearsal, and they stopped to give him a long standing ovation. We are delighted to
have him with us today in worship (only in one service, and not to direct the choirs yet).
He told the choir that he was able to be back on his feet and in God’s house only because
of the power of God to heal and the consistent, persistent prayers of those who appealed
to Him for Hanq. Amen! Now, do not take for granted the prayer requests shared with
you at family altar and in services and meetings where you are urged to pray for
somebody. Hanq Neal is more walking proof that prayer works!
GOD IS RECRUITING WARRIORS
There are fifty-six men and women who make up your clergy team at Wheeler. That is
an incredible number of people yielded to the gospel ministry. But more are coming
aboard. Next Sunday afternoon at 4:00, we will ordain four who are licensed already:
Rev. Jacqueline Evans Rev. Joe Jefferson
Rev. Kyra Hinckson Rev. Dr. Patricia Williams
And then at 6:00 on that same day, we will hear initial, or ‘trial’ sermons from two who
have announced their calling to the ministry:
Preston Allen
Jonathan Strange
Please come to support these six, and by all means lift them in your prayers.
STRONG TEACHERS NEEDED
If you love boys, and can at the same time make them do well, and have a Bachelor’s
Degree, WALIPP Preparatory Academy needs you. Please see the appeal for teachers on
page 6.
