Notes

Item text: "Dear Ike, I have received quite a heavy mail in the last week or so, in fact too much to try to answer in detail before the sailing rush hits us. I am very sorry to hear that your foot has been giving you trouble : I hope it is alright by now. I am also distressed to hear that such a minute search is being made of our records in connection with mothers estate. I hope that final decision is not too onerous; you of course know that we donot have to accept his decision but can take the matter into the courts if we have anything to stand on. The cotton situation, ... , left off control + ... both American + exotic is in a terrible muddle the spinners not knowing where they stand on what they will get. I ran into further trouble in bills [and] here between our agents [and] Chardine. It is too long to write about but please tell Harris to deal with ... and Cleric as if Chardine ... not ... sending all communications direct, cables, letters [and] such as they will no longer work under Chardine: no copies to Chardine. I have been over it all with Pierre [and] he understands my positions. We sail as planned on the Liberte on the 18th ought to Dock 23d or 24th. I hope to be home not later than the 30th. as Ritz Carlton in New York. Tell Gladys I received her letter with the deer picture. My best to all, Dan"
