11/5/34.
Mr. S. Juran reported that from collections he had made there was
a balance last month of $40*00. Since that time, however, he had paid a
bill to the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company for paint, in the amount of
$63.80 and also purchased an item of brass polish in the amount of $1.50.
This left the Congregation indebted to him in the amount of $23*30. He
reported pending collections to take care of this balance. Mr* Juranwas
complimented on his work and a rising vote of thanks was accorded to him
and to his associates.
Hebrew School Committee:: Mr. Shapiro had nothing of importance to
report. Everything was running smoothly and all pointed to us having
a Hebrew School of first class standing. Rabbi Tofield had taken a
great interest in the details of this School and he was working on
plans to increase its efficiency. The plan now proposed is to furnish
the parents of each child of the Hebrew School, with a report card as
to the student’s progress and conduct. Although this plan had not yet
been installed, the Hebrew School students had sensed something to this
effect as the class conduct had already shown signs of improvement.
It is hoped that with Rabbi Tofield’s co-operation we will have one of
the finest Hebrew Schools in this part of the country*

Mr. L. Shainock, Co-Chairman,
Mr* Ben Susholtz, Chairman, reported that
additional improvements to the cemetery property had been made and
that thereby it had been possible to reclaim a few more lots,
imately 1500 loads (about 3,000 yards) of dirt had been added,
this has been graded up and put into shape it will be all that can be
taken care of for the present. Mr. Susshoktz further stated that we will
now have to bend our efforts towards constructing a retaining wall to
avoid possible damage from washouts in the event of high water. He also
added that there was a let of work which the Cemetery Committee should
undertake, but in the absence of the Ptesident he would defer going into
the subject at this time.
Treasury:: The Treasury reported collections for the month of October
in the amount of $1,253.50 - being $361*00 for offerings and $892*50 for
dues.
Mr* D. F* Miller, 1007 Sterling Building, who
pledged $100.00 annually.
Mr. A* Caplan, 1718 Hutchins Street.
Mr* Sam Kaplan, 2109 Chenevert Street.
