Meets In Smith
Home Tuesday
The U.D.C. Chapter had Its first
meeting of the new year on Tues-.
day afternoon, September 16. In the
home of Mrs. Sydney Smith, presi-
dent of the new year.
Mrs. Smith called the meeting
to order and led the group In re-I
peating the Lord's Prayer. The
r'tual was read. Salutes to the
United States, the Confederate and
Texas Rags were given.
The president read several com-
munications concerning the busi->
ness for the new yea .
In the absence of Mrs. Tom
Smith, secretary, the minutes were
read and roll call was given by-
Mrs. Scott Hart. The minutes were
of the picnic In June where new
officers were Installed.
With the help of members. Mrs.
Smith designated the places where
the chapter will meet each month
this year.
After the business session. Mrs.
Hart gave a most interesting re-
view of the story, "A Daughter
Remembers" by Ethlyne Folsom
Springer.
The meeting was adjourned to
meet with Mrs. S. A. Cotner in
October. Mrs. Smith served de-
licious refreshments of cake and
ice cream.
