Notes

Translation of Item: "Sir, We have the honor to thank you for your letter of May 27, the content of which has caught our full attention.

We learn with great pleasure that Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Kempner, of Galveston, have asked you to have the same type of room reserved for them for the 1948 season as the one they were accustomed to occupying in our apartments.

It is very difficult for us to settle definitively on this request; however, barring unforeseen circumstances, our hotels will reopen next year at the end of May and will remain open until the first days of September.

Regarding the conditions, these will depend on the financial situation of France as well as the cost of living at that time and it is impossible for us to set them now.

As an indication, this season we are asking for the type of facility previously occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Kempner and comprising two luxurious bedrooms with bathroom and a very beautiful corner living room Frs 5400. - per day.

State taxes, amounting to approximately 18%, as well as 15% for service are charged extra.

Please convey to Mr. and Mrs. Kempner the expression of our devoted feelings, and tell them that we will be particularly honored to receive them again during the 1948 season.

We remember very well the stay they had with us, and they can be assured of finding in our rooms the same kind welcome, as well as the same friendly atmosphere and the same well-being that they liked so much.

Furthermore, our hotels are in perfect condition, having been neither occupied nor requisitioned during the war.

Thanking you for your kindness, please accept, Sir, our most distinguished greetings.

Henry L. Soldati
Manager"
