by Mrs. Mary Landrum, Van-
ita Martin, Donna Mullinix and
Ellen Haralson, who also read
the calendar of prayer.
Following the program,

ustrated with pictures of the
true meaning of a Christian,
that was placed on the bulle-

The Adult Sunday School
Class of the First Baptist
Church held a Thanksmas di-
nner Saturday night in Fellow-
ship Hall of the church. Guests-

Bells eagers win
doubleheader
. Bells hosted Tom Bean last
Friday night in basketball with
the girls and boys teams of
Bells winning the games. The
girls score was 23 - 6, Bells,
at half time with the final
score 51 - 25, Bells. De-
bbie Reynolds was high poin-
ter.
The boys game with Tom
Bean taking a slight edge in
the first quarter. At half time
Bells led with a score of 27-
included the member’s fami-
lies and Mrs. Woodrow Myers
,of Garland.
The buffet meal was served
to 30 present. * The dining
tables were covered in a glossy
white which featured centers
of greenery, pyracanthis berr-
ies, ornaments and red cand-
les set in Santa mugs.
Following the meal, a
quiiitet of girls, Sandra Neal,
Vanita Martin, Goldie Hum-
phries, Peggy and Sherri Walt,
accompanied by Mrs. Mary Jo-
hnson at the piano, sang Ch-
ristmas selections. A Bible
quizz was conducted by Mrs.
Johnson with prizes won by
Rev. Harry Stanley, Mrs. Gor-
don Mullinix and Mrs. Weldon
Meek.
Bells fireman to
hold officer
election .
The Bells Volunteer Fire
Department will hold an offi-
cer election Thursday, Dec. 11
at 7:30 p.m. in the Fire Hall
according to Fire Chief Nor-
assessor - collector for the
school year 1969-70. Also
under discussion was the poss-
ibility of calling a bond elec-
tion for the building improve-
ment program in the near fu-
ture. ' ,
O. V. Barker, school super-
intendent, reported to the, bo-
ard on the school Self - Ev-
aluation program which the sc-
hool participates in Region
10 of the Research Center
in Richardson.

Mrs. Jack1 Pritchard, Ann-
ual Yearbook sponsor of Bells
High School attended the Te-
xas High School Press Asso-
ciation meeting last Friday
and Saturday. She was accom-
panied by the editor of the
Annual Staff Miss Lou Ayne
Shearer and the junior editor
Miss Ingrid Whiting. This is
the fifth year that the spon-
sors and editors have attended.
They stayed in the Clayton
House Motel while in Denton.
The meeting was held at Te-
xas Women’s University.
Bible study
group meets
The Bible Study Group of the
First Baptist Church Inet for a
monthly meeting on Thursday
morning in the home of Mrs.
Harry Stanley.
Opening prayer was
led by Mrs. Floyd Woodson.
Mrs. W. H. Atkinson taught
the lesson, “God’s Fellow Wo-
rker s’’, from the Royal Ser-
vice magazine. Group discu-
ssion followed the study. Mrs.
Harry Stanley dismissed with
closing prayer.

The Hughes - Fold Sunday
school class of the First Bap-
tist Church held their annual
class Christmas dinner Wed-
nesday in Fellowship HalL
The covered dish meal
was served buffet style. The
dining tables were laid in white
cloths qith center runners of
greenery and pyracanthia be-
rries. Place cards for 19
members and guests comple-
ted'the table decor. Guests
included Rev. and Mrs. Harry
Stanley, Dale Stanley and Mike
Stanley. Rev. Stanley read
scripture and offered the pr-
ayer of thanks. Mrs. Laudys
Hill of Bonham was a special
guest.
The class presented money
gifts to Rev. Stanley and the
teacher, Mrs. Reba Shearer.
Proceeding the meal, pla-
tes were prepared for mem-
' bers unable to attend and de-
livered for the noon meaL

The Woman’s Missionary
Society of the First Baptist
Church met Monday afternoon
in the church for the first of
a Week of Prayer program.
Mrs. Gordon Mullinix presided
over the meeting and read co-
rrespondence. Mrs. J. B. Lay-
man directed the calendar of
prayer with members reading
names of missionaries having
birthdays from Christmas ca-
rds. The prayer was voiced
by Mrs. Cecil Owens.
The theme of theprogramis
“In The Power of His Spi-
rit’’. Discussing the topics
“Seal Us, Oh Holy Spirit’’,
were Mrs. Mullinix, Mrs. Evie
Atnip, Mrs. Layman and Mrs.
Weldon Meek. The meeting
was dismissed with a prayer
in unison.
Mrs. J. B. Layman, prayer
chairman of the Women’s Mi-
ssionary Society of the First
Baptist Church introduced the
Week of Prayer program Wed-
nesday night. The theme,
“In The Power of His Spirit’’
was emphasized with scripture
reading and the calendar of
prayer. She concluded thecak-
endar of prayer with a song
she composed, “God Bless
Our Missionaries.’’
Frank Coleman led the
congregational singing of the
song, “Send The Light,’f On
behalf of the Brotherhood, Rev.
Harry Stanley spoke on the
topic, “Involvement in Foreign
Missions.’’ Thedismissalpr-
r-ayer was voiced by Mrs. Lay-
man.
The interest center was
composed of a large picture of
Christ which was spotlighted.
The Women’s Missionary

for a regular business meeting
and the final program for the
Week of Prayer, Lottie Moon
Christmas offering

fts for a mission action pro-

School board to
call bond
election
The Bells School Board met
last Thursday night with four
trustees present. The board
man Brown. There are 35
members with an average att-
endance of 20 to 25 at the
meetings, which are held each
second and fourth Thursdays
of the month.
The men simulate fighting
fires with drills and discuss
ways to approach a fire, che-
ck equipment and practice with
the trucks. The department
has two trucks, both in top
notch condition. The members
and men of the city are ur-
ged to attend the meetings
and the election of officers.
Camp Fire Girls
make yule plans
The Ta-Wan-Ka Fifth Grade
Camp Fire Girls met Mon-
day, after school in the home
’.of\their guardian, Mrs. O. E.
?Price. There were 8 members
present. The group practiced
Christmas songs for a caroling
on Dec. 15, with Brenda Price
and Donna Mullinix at the pi-
ano.
