I could express another thought of my
own about the editor’s new, I mean old,
no second-hand, well - recently acquired,
printing press. You know, he discovered a
part is just flat missing. He doesn’t know
which part, and if he did — where would
it go — how will he find out — and what
will he do? NO, I just won’t say anything
about it. I have a feeling that I had better
leave well enough alone.

Club members who observed their
birthdays for the past three months were
honored and presented a decorated cake.
They were Mrs. Pansy Miller, Mrs. Sue
Brinkley, Mrs. Ruby Cawthon and Mrs.
Bill Riker. Also sharing honors with the
birthday honorees were Mr. and Mrs. L.L.
Wendell, who were special guests and
observed their 59th wedding anniversary
on September 15. They were surprised
with a money tree presented by members
and received other gifts.
Other guests for the luncheon were
Mrs. Pauline Edwards, Mrs. Pat Tillman,
Mrs. H.O. Lewis, Mrs. Robert Sale, Mrs.
Inez Pierce and Mrs. Dolores Meek.

In one chapter, she asks this question:
"Why are the young so sure they’re
telling it like it is, when most of them
haven’t been anywhere or done
anything?” Another gem is, “the first
duty of love is to listen”. I never thought
of it like that and I have given it a lot of
thought.
In a small Gold Star Family Album
publication, I found one I really like. “It

Since my column last week, the editor
mentioned something about it getting
“zipped” if I kept on being funny. (?) So
this week, I will try to be more serious.
The past few weeks have given me an
opportunity to do some catch-up reading
and I ran across several things to think
about. Maybe they will provoke thought
for you too.
I read Peg Bracken’s book, “I didn’t
Come Here to Argue” and she said that
“middle age is between 45 anc(.65 years
old.” I was certainly glad to read that
because, for the past few years, my
children have had me believing that
middle age began at 25 and ended at 40
and after that you were just plain old.
She also stated, “There is nothing like
doing a good deed in private — and having
it discovered in public.” I guess that is
human nature.

We are sincerely grateful to everyone
who helped in any way to make our great
loss easier to bear. Especially do we wish
to express our gratitude to Dr. Geers for
his faithful service and to every nurse
who gave her love and tender care.
We’re also thankfor for the beautiful
service provided by Earnheart Funeral
Home, for the music by Mrs. Ryon and
the comforting message by the minister,
William E. Grisham.
The flowers, food and spoken or
written words of encouragement helped
us to know that you too, loved her.
