Coach Charles Sessoms
Honey Grove:
“Although they haven’t won
a game, they have a good ball
club. Three of the teams that
have defeated them are still
undefeated.
“Two of Honey Grove’s loss-
es have been played without
three of their starters. Not
playing in these games were a
fullback weighing 210 pounds, a
t has won
all-district two years, and a
quarterback who started the
first two games but hasn’t
played the last two.
“All of these will be in action
against us Friday.”
Coach Sessoms on Leonard:
“That was the first time I’ve
ever been behind and not snap-
ped the ball on the offense
(Leonard got two quick turn-ov-
ers for an early 14 0 lead).
“The boys played real well
after we finally got the ball.
They scored on the second play
after getting the ball.
“The defensive line played
real well. They only gave up 52
yards rushing. All in all, it was a
real good ball game, after we
settled down. Leonard has a
good ball club.”
Whitewright picked up 16
first downs to 9 for Leonard, had
327 yards rushing compared to
52 for Leonard, and got 160
yards on a 5 completions of 10
passes compared to 120 yards
on 10 completions of 32 pass
attempts by Leonard.
Whitewright lost five fumbles
Leonard none. Whitewright
intercepted four passes, Leo-
nard none.
The game was Whitewright’s
16-A opener and it now stands
5-0 for the season. The Tigers
have now scored 217 points
compared to 64 for their op-
ponents.
