The scheduled game between

The announcement that Mr Bi-

Was no news to tills column and to
the readers i if anyi of this column.
It was last June that we wrote
that the University of Texas men-
tor would decide to retire at the
end of his 10-year regime at head-
man of Longhorn football fortunes
and that he would recommend Blair
Cherry as his successor. However,
we hadn’t expected the announce-
ment until next year—when the
football season was over
Tile man with the unusual name
— Dana Xenophon—has been a
football coach for more than three
decades, to be exact, ever since 1912
except for the period he sj>ent in
the service during the first World
War A fellow who cun follow one
Unc ol endeavor and always have
a Job for more than 30 years has
got to have .something on the ball
And not Just as a coach cither.
