nue reported to the police Monday
That thieves bad taken 104 chickens
from his pens
Another theft report reaching the ;
police is to the effect that city garb
age cans are being; stolen. Several
persons have reported the theft of
their garbage containers and Sat-
urday the report was received that
the municipal cans were disappearing
While Dave Melton Deming. N. M.
was waiting for a train at Onion sta-
tion Saturday night a sneak thief
took his suitcase which contained
clothing and a watch. The theft
was reported to the police.
A purse snatcher was active Sat-
nrday. Mrs. J. B. Hodge 3306 Rosa
street reported that while she was
shopping at the city market a man
snatched her purse which contained
39.75 and ran. He was not captured.

Davis Company
Tha Abner Davis well offsetting
the Bell discovery well in section 2
block 21 Is now making rapid Head-
way according to a statement issued
by the company. One hundred and
twenty feet of 10 inch casing1 has
been set and the drillers have or-
dered the shoe for the string claim-
ing they will be able to reach the
sand in a week or 10 days.

shipped- from the factory several
weeks ago for an oil and refining
company at Pecos was purchased by
Abner Davis while passing through
Fort Worth and will be used 4a
farther drilling in tne recos xieia.
This is the third rig to be taken over
by Davis that was originally shipped
to Pecos for nee by other people.
Other wells nearing the sand are
Locky 13 working with casing at
600 feet; Citisens company drilling
at 610 feet and the Bell -Reeves
drilling at 400 feet.
The second car of fuel oil from the
Abner Davis Wichita Falls refinery
has been received for drilling pur-
poses in the Pecos field.

Pecos. Texas. May 10. The-Bell No.
1 is again on the pomp The sand that
was shutting off the flow of oil has
been all cleaned out ana oauea uior-
ongbly "so that the oil sand is stand-
ing up. On pulling out the pump
there was five feet of disintegrated
oil sand found to be shutting off the
flow. The well Is showing up better
than even before it was abut nown.
After the bead was pumped off the
well flowed for- 3o minutes with tne
engine shut off. There is a greater
showing of gas than at any time since
the well was brought in.
The still for the topping plant of
the Bell company has been set la
place.
Indications were that the Minerva
well northwest of the Bell would be
completed today.
Pour Joints uf casing are being set
at the Laura wen. which is drilling
in hard formation at a depth of about
1J00 feet. It la reported that the
casing is being get on top of a cap

LAND AT TOYAH
Toyah Texas May 10 The first
entrance of Canadian capital Into the
oil fields of the Toyah basin was
marked when J C Dallas of Van-
couver. B. CL. closed a deal for the
purchase of 280 acres of land in sec-
tion 44 block 59. and entered into a
contract with Hobs Murray of El
Paso for immediate driLlng of a bat-
tery of seven shallow wells on the
newlv aeonfred oronertv. The con
sideration involved in the transac-
tion was not made public though Mr.
Dallas said that he believed the price
paid was the largest: ever para ior
oil lands in the Toyah basin It is
believed that the purchase by Mr.
Dallas was in the Interests of the
Columbia Petroleum company of
Canada. Mr. Dallas is authority for
the statement that his clients have
been making a thorough investiga-
tion of the Toyah basin as an oil
field.
"We have satisfied ourselves that
oil exists in commercial quantities
and we have made up our minds that
the develoiH&entB we are about to
make will pay." said Mr. Dallas. We
are not speculating In lands or deal-
ing in leases. We are oil producers
and believe we have located property
which will yield splendid revenues.
While the contract with Ross & Mur-
ray calls for the drilling for shallow
weus only we win ixuuxe wmhw ucrp
tests at once for the purpose of prov-
ing the presence of oil cands below
those which are being exploited &y
those operators now in the field.

TO BUILD GASOLINE PLANT
Desdemona. Tex- May 10. A three
unit gasoline plant is being erected
by the Magnolia Petroleum company
on the Woodward farm east of Desde-
mona. The plant will be connected
np with the new Jake Hamon rail-
road. This company has just recently
completed a three unit plant on Its
C&rnth lease. This sax.e concern is
now drilling several tests on its
Echols lease. Within the past ten
days this company has eompleted ten
new wells in the district.
The No. 4 on the Anderson tract of
the Mitchell Oil company Is making
1400 barrels from a sand picked np
at 3041 feet and extending to .053
feet. This is the. company's fourth
good well on the tract.
HOME REFINING COMPANY
WILL BE REORGANIZED
Port Worth. Tex May 10. The
Home Oil Refining company is being
reorganized. The concern Is now in
the hands of the receiver and it is
necessary to reorganize in order to
protect the Interests of the stock-
holders officials say. Stockholders
are requested to deposit their stock
with the Empire Trust company 120
Broadway. New York city at once.

Either of these can be aonlied
with a small brush or with a tinv
stick wrapped at one end with a bit
of cotton moistened by the ointment.
Be careful that you keep within the
arch of the eyebrow; .otherwise you
might start a growth of hair which
would be out of alignment and which
would destroy the beauty of your
brow.
