From miles and miles came people to see,
From miles and miles came women with glee,
For hours and hours the army marched by,
For hours and hours we watched our flag fly.
Soldiers were here, and soldiers were there;
Some were homesick, while some didn't care
If they never saw their home again;
Some were content, who walked in the rain.

Yet maybe they would fight on the sea,
Or fight by the side of those older,
For now the gun is on their shoulder.
So the soldiers marched by with sturdy face.
The sound of our anthem quickened their pace.
They passed our flag as it flew from the pole,
And then marched on toward a definite goal.THE GALLEON
