THE GALLEON
not looking forward to was the water. I couldn't
swim to save my life. I had tried to learn a few
times, but every time I got in the water, I'd freak out
and run in the other direction. But I figured, as
long as I stayed ONthe boat and enjoyed the ride,
everything would be fine.
I found myself loving the experience imme-
diately. I'd sit on the front of the boat and let the
ocean air run through my hair, as the sun gently
warmed my body. During the evening hours, still
on the front deck, I found my eyes getting heavy, so
I decided to take a nap right there. It was so com-
fortable, I fell asleep almost instantly. It was during
this time, that my accident happened.
I remember awakening to a huge wave
crashing on to the side of the ship. The force of the
wave was so strong that it knocked me over the
edge, and into the water below. I struggled and
struggled to swim, and as I tried to cry for help, wa-
ter kept rushing into my mouth. The waves kept
crashing into the ship, and eventually, so did I.
That's when I blacked out. When I came to, I was
on a beach. Then came the panic.
I wonder if they even know I'm gone? I
thought as I walked along the coastline. I wanted to
see how large the beach was and if I could find any-
one to help me. Along the beach, I noticed a beau-
tiful shell that glistened in the sunlight.
No, no, no. There's no time to get caught
up in beauty right now, I thought to myself. I gotta
keep walking and see fI can find anyone,... any-
thing.
