Our Temple has much to give—but it
needs something from you, too: the gift
you can offer to its various Funds—and
the gift of your energy and enthusiasm
for its work. The same goes for our
central national bodies—the UAHC and
the HUC-JIR. The more you give, the
more you will assuredly get.

Bishop A. Frank Smith
Honored By Congregation
On Friday, March 10, Congregation
Beth Israel tendered a moving Sabbath
Service to Bishop A. Frank Smith, re-
tired, of the Methodist Church.
Bishop Smith wrote a letter of thanks
to Dr. and Mrs. Schachtel which reads
in part:
“I can’t say what is in my mind and
heart to say; I do want to believe, how-
ever, that you understand how profound-
ly I was moved by that unique and
marvelous service last evening and how
deeply appreciative I am. No one knows
better than do I that I do not merit one
scintilla of what was said and done; but
I wish that all the world could know
how grateful I am to each of you and
Congregation Beth Israel.”
