Text: Enclosed you will please find Post office money order to the amount of $38.65 thirty eight dollars and sixty five cents as follows =

Ballance [sic] on first government fee = $10.00
Attorneys fee = $25.00
Assignment and recording fee = $3.00
Government stamp = .25
For four coppies [sic] of blue prints .40
Total — = $38.65

You will pleas [sic] send the written guarantee that the amount of $25.00 attorney’s fee shall be returned to Winston L. Welch of Bellevue, Texas I you fail to secure allowance of our patent; as per your letter of advice.

Thinking as I do that you can tell me where, and who it is that manufactures such springs I therefore enclose stamp for reply, for which you will please give me the name and address of such manufacturer, and also the name and address of the manufacturer of the largest clock spring that is made, and oblige. I have not yet desided [sic] who I will employ as my attorney through whom I will make my application for patent. This new and valuable invention is something new under the sun, and one that is applicable to every civilized nation on the globe. Respectfully John J. Click. Bellevue, Clay Co; Texas.
