of every man and woman to get
ahead in this life. To ihake them-
selyes better is the goal of many.
This is a goal well worth striving
for, but where do we go from here?
Are we going to obtain,.one goal
and slow up our progress, or, on
the other hand, are we going to
keep fighting and working for. a
higher goal?
- Do not be satisfied with a half of
an apple. Get" a whole one. Work,
fight, and do our duty and soon
you will be at the top.
Seniors
Last Tuesday night after the
pep meeting the seniors met and
discussed several important things
they are plannig to do this year.
The most favored discussion was
that, of leaving a memorial to the
college. The ^memorial, 'however,
was not exactly decided on, and one
or two suggestions were made. A
fee of five dollars, for the memorial
was. voted on. The president then
asked every one who could to pay
that fee, and in a few minutes one
hundred and fifteen dollars was
collected. Every senior -pay* his
fee as soon as possible to David
Smith, president, or J. ,D. Craven,
secretary. -
The faculty adviser, Miss Eeri-
nigan and Mr. Hale, gave interest-
ing talks. Their advice was co-
operation, for this is very essen--
tidl to the progress of any class
toj make it, "bigger and better."
Committees for entertainment
and programs were appointed by
the president. These' committees
are to start planning thier work.
The seniors are going to make
this a great year, and we believe
that with everyone taking part we
can do it.
The Boys' Rifle Team
A large number of boys are still
coming out for the boy's rifle team
and it looks as if each company
will- be well represented in the con-
tests which are coming, it seems,
however-, that we, are not wra'king
as hard as we should. The girls
are beating us in shooting.We
must not allow this to continue.
Boys, are we going to beat those,
girls? If we are, we must practice
harder than ever, for they are do-
ing some mighty fine shooting.
Fort Frolics
Captain Johnson has found the
three unsolved mysteries: woman,
love and hash.
We had privileges' Wednesday
night to go see ourselves^ as others'
see us. I}ict we??
Mrs, Monty served us a chick-
en dinner in honor of Bennett's
promotion to sergeant.
Fish Mont spent the week end
in "Waco, , > ' ' s
What do you know about it, boys?
Meadows didn't go ^to Glen Rose
this week end..
:>Mr, and Mrs. Monty, Fish Us-
sery and Sergeant Bennett motor-
ed to Dublin on Sunday afternoon.
Miss Rucker (one of Mrs. Morify's
summer exep) returned with them
and spent Sunday Evening and
Monday here. Fish Ussery (Who
has.left us for another home) came
down and went to church, we don't
know why.
Coy Foster,, of Lipan, stopped
by for awhile on Sunday to see
La Ree. Sergeant Bennett seem-
ed quite disappointed Sunday night
because La Ree visited in Lipan
Sunday afternoon.
Fish Monty says we should
have a bowl -with two compart-
ments on it. When asked why, he
says, , "One for peanut butter and
one for jelly." Do we like it—and
how!! Pretty good suggestion for
a freshman.
Hill didn't ihake • supper last
night, we wonder why. '
Sherrod says the rain kept him
here this week end. De don't think
anything else could have,
Chee'r up Brooks! Thanksgiving
isn't far off. We will' all go home
then. 1
Davis, has shared the last four
meals with; lis. W© think Mrs.
Months cooking has done its work
on Davis. , j'. v/
, The Fort was a. ratlier noisy
place last Saturday night, until
twelve o'clock anyway. A number
of fellows took cold show.er baths,
and they Weren't first-year stu-
dents either.' We maintain that it
is getting pretty bad when the up-
perclassmen have to do things like
that.'
One night last week the fresh-
men treated the uppers to ^ri ice
cream party. They were allowed
to control the Fort for exactly
fifty minutes. Anyhow, the cream
was good and the fish will undoubt-
edly make good uppers next year.
They took full advantage of that
fifty minutes^—arid how.
Colonel Atlee went to P'ort Worth
sometime Saturday and did not re-
turn until Sunday night. ' Nobody
knows why he went or . what he
did. ' "
Frazier was gone from early
Saturday' morning until Monday
morning.'* His mother is seriously
ill. The Fort extends its sympathy
and hopes for her speedy recovery.
.There are several new non-com-
missioned officers in the Fort now.
They have all been warmly con-
gratulated. "" .
Wasn't that a great football
game? The Fort is proud of its
members who are on the squad es-
pecially Alex.(
Leon KreideL visited us , over the
week end.- He is an ex-Fort man,
and we were glad to have him
flack. s
.Everybody saw Nick Fletcher at
the' game. He had been visiting
us for a couple of days.' Everyone
admits that he certainly can get
the yelling'out of a bunch. Come
back oft^n Nick.- 1 ; 1 /
Risinger'6 sister was visiting
here; from , C. I. A. last Monday.
Several .Fort men met hej*, '
! J. > Wayman Murray has /moevd
into room eighteen with Singleton.
He. was heartily welcomed by all
the: Fort members.
We are all betting that the
Plowboys will beat Wichita Falls
Junior College. They like, to scalp
Indians anyhow.
The Military Dope
v (A. Bum Kaydet)-
The regular'cadet corps has a
rival in the p. F. Batalliori, head-
ed by Colonel McGregor. They
were organized recently arid are
functioning smoothly. Their ranks
are not so very full at the present,
but it is expected that-several neW
memibers will be admitted at an
early date. A promotjon list will
come out soon also^ Colonel. Mc-
Gregor reached • his ,' high rank
merely because he fulfilled the re-
quirements of the Batallion so ef-
ficiently. , : , :
Several new shavetails are to ,be
seen strutting arourid the campus;
since the promotion list cariie out
Sadler, Harris, Johnson, Frazier,
and Scott are rapidly., becoming
round shouldered because of the
load of buttons.'
>Crack Company, crush Grubbs!
Fuller and Glenny, San Antonio
youths, are our "fish" officers this
year.'. ; -. ;
The new Vidette" patches; are
here. They are larger ajid present
a better, looking emblem on the
blouse.
The new flag that will,go to the
best drilled platoon is being made
and it will be an honor to carry jt
along With your company guidon,
"C?" company seems to be leading
in the chase.

Home Economics
Club H^s Meeting
Last Thursday afternoon at 4:20
o'clock ,the Horn© Economics club
had the first regular meeting of
the term. A letter from the Texas
Home Economics Association- was
read inviting; us to join the Nation
al organization. The question , was
put to a vote, and it. was unanim-
ously decided tjiat we pay, tlie feo
which entitles us to membership.
There are- many advantages in
taking this step. Instead of being
a somewhat obscure club, we are
now members of a national organi-
zation which , entitles us to wear
the club pin and send a delegate to
the Teachers' Association of Tex-
as, which is to be held in Dallas
on November "29. ; ;
'After a short business meeting
the social program for the entire
year was read oy tno cnairman 01
the program committee. Since we
are going to riiee^ only once: si
month, we are going to endeavor
po make each meeting interesting
worthwhile and entertaining. ' We
had a very enjoyable program^at
this meeting.
Since travel is one pf the most
discussed and popular subjects of
the day, it was' decided that this
would be a fitting theme for our
year's work and one which1 could
ijot be t easily exhausted. y/ Mrs.
Love started the prpgrarii by in-
troducing our subject and • felling
us how it is possible for everyone
to/travel. She .related somevery
interesting and amusing incidents
of her own ' first. trip to Boston.
Miss Trickey added 'a great deal;
to the program by. outlining the
necessary clothing and accessor-
ies for. a traveling wardrobe. Miss
Ellis, of the English department,
concluded the program very de-'
lightfully by telling lis about her
trip to California last summer.
Our next meeting, which is to
be the first Thursday in December
will be a Christmas party.
Grassburr last year, secretary-
tresaurer .of the senior class, and
^vice-president pf; .'the T,T.S. Club,
Tarleton friend^ and thp JrTac
staff extend hearty congratulations,
and best wishes to~' this happy
couple,. '
