Thirty-seven members
of the Texas Retired
Teachers Association's
local unit in Panola
County have participated
in the group's 2008
Community Volunteer
Service project. Members
celebrated Project results
at the February meeting
last Thursday in the
Carthage ISO board room.
The group also com-
pleted another 2008 proj-
ect to provide books for
children in need. The proj-
ect seeks to place books
into the hands of children
who might never have
owned a book.
This year, the group,
collected 72 books which
were the gifts of the
group's membership.
Joyce Hughes, who
helped to collect the
books, says that many of
the books are truly special
gifts for a child.
