trict, the Hudson Hornets.
Hudson has been the only
team to beat Carthage, but
this time the Dawgs will
be ready for the rematch.

Lady Jacks just like last
time, 4-1.
Coach Morgan started
her ace, Kaylee Davis, in
the circle for the district
game. In the first three
innings, Davis struck out
eight of the nine batters
she faced. She shut down
Diboll 1-2-3, three up,
three down. Davis did
surrender one run in the
fourth on one hit, but she
was solid the'three follow-
ing innings. Davis ended
the game with 15 strike-

Dawgs are sitting in a
good place in district with
a record of 8-3, and 22-8
for the season. On Friday,
the Lady Dawgs hit the
road to Center to face the
Lady Riders. This week,
Carthage will play their
final two district games, as
the play-off race heats up.
On Tuesday, the Lady
Dawgs will host the Rusk
Lady Eagles, and on
Friday, they will host the
Hudson Lady Hornets.

The Lumberjacks had no
chance against Burchett.
When Diboll got into
scoring position, Burchett
battled back on the mound
to close out the inning.
He pitched the complete
game only allowing
Diboll to hit the ball four
times. Burchett struck out
eight batters, and walked
two. He improved his
record to 7-2 for the sea-
son.
The Dawgs heated their
sticks in the first inning,
but didn't put any runs on
the board until the third.
Dustin Russell started the
huge five run inning off
with a double to center

Bearcats hire new coach

At Jim Reeves
Memorial Field, the
Carthage Bulldogs contin-
ued to roll when they host-
ed the Diboll Lumber-
jacks on Tuesday. The
Dawgs slipped by the
Lumberjacks in their first
meeting, but in this meet-
ing Carthage didn’t make
the game close. The
Dawgs held their second
consecutive opponent
scoreless, as Carthage
smashed three long balls
to dominate Diboll this
time, 13-0.
On the mound, Coach
Jim Goldman started his
ace, Michael Burchett.

individual medalist race,
Olivia Boone took second
place, Kaylie Smith took
third place, Courtlynd
Miller took fifth place,
and Laura Lee took eighth
place. The girls team will
move on to play in the
Regional golf tournament
on April 22-23 at the
Brenham County Club in
Brenham.
The boys team took
home third place at the
tournament behind Lufkin
Hudson and Diboll. Zack
Smith took second place
in the individual medalist
race. He will advance to
the Regional golf tourna-
ment.
Congratulations to the
boys and girls golf team
for their performance in
the District Golf
Championship. Good
luck to the golfers as they
head to the Regional tour-
nament.
Clakley reached base on
an error by Diboll's third
baseman. In the fourth
inning, Carthage flied out
twice for two quick outs,
and then Tori Jo White
stepped to the plate.
White hits a solo homerun
over the left-center field
wall, to give the Lady
Dawgs a 2-0 lead.
Carthage was silenced
again in the fourth and
fifth innings. In the sixth
inning, the Lady Dawgs
added insurance, as the
score two more runs.
