Cadet Captain David Cunyus of
Stephenville is this week's "cadet
of the week'.' Tlie 20-year-old lad
is commander of company "B" in
the Tarleton Cadet Corps, platoon
leader of the VVainwright Rifles,
and a'member of the Honor Guard.
Other Tarleton honors include'
chairman of the Interfaith Reli-
gious Council.
Cunyus was a 1954 graduate of
Stephenville High School where'
he gained, many honors, the most
striking being the fact that he was
a member of the Who's Who his
senior year. Cunyus played football
one year, was vice-president of his
freshman class, on the Stinger
staff (school newspaper), and a
TSC Rifle Teams
To Participate in
Arlington Match
The ROTC Rifle Team and the
Women's Rifle Team will-partici-
pate in a match between Tarleton
and Arlington Feb. 7 in Arlington,
according to M/Sgt. C. C. Rainer.
Girls making the trip are as fol-
lows: Betty Howell of Dublin,
Ruth Walker of Moran, Sue Woods
of Dallas, Sally Wyatt of Merid-
ian, Ada Long of Goklthwaite, and
Nancy Myers of Cato, N. Y. Last
ywtr the Arlington team won by a
small margin. The match will be
fired on Feb. 7.
The jtOTC Rifle Team will meet
the Arlington ROTC team at the
same time. Rayford Woods, Ray
Sparks, Walton Weatherred, John
Boysen, Travis Herring, James
Lain and alternate Milton Zander
will make the trip with hopes of
repeating last year's perforqa-neW-
Last year the Tarleton team de-
feated the' Arlington, riflemen, *
to be the most interesting of thena
til. Hel and two other Tarleton
students, Jerry Flemmon^ , and
Charles White, s.et sail for Tenn-
essee in hopes of selling Bibles to
the hillbillies (which to his surprise
proved to be quite successful.)'

Clubs. In addition David was pre-
sident of the Spanish Club for two
years and a member of the debat-
ing team which won regional.
National Jamboree Delegate
■ Traveling is Cunyus' favorite
pastime and the Stephenville youth
has done his share. In 1950 David
•attended the National Jamboree
for Boy Scouts which was held at
Valley Fo'rge. The preceding year
he, traveled to Philmont Scout
Ranch -located in New Mexico. In-
cidentally, Cunyus is still a Scout
and has grown to an l£agle, (Eagle
Scout that is.)
Cunyus has alsp made trips to j likes Tarleton, fails to
California and Boston but relates | on the woman situation,

The trio", as Cunyus described
it, left Ft. Worth at 1 p.m. on Fri-
day and arrived at Nashville afc
7 a.m. Saturday morning—a dis-
tance of one thousand miles. This
may hardly seem possible Jo soma
of us but the fact that they bitch-
hiked all the way does.
