The High School P. T. A. met Fri-
day, April 8, at the high school. Af-
ter an interesting program a short
business program was held. The hos-
tesses for the afternoon then served
refreshments in the Home Economics
Laboratory.
DECLAMATION CONTESTS.
In another column the News an-
nounces Mr. A. L. Howard as a can-
didate for County Tax Assessor. Mr.
Howard is 43 years of age and has
lived in Harrison county all his life.
He is married and has two children
and is a popular citizen of Harleton.
He has represented his precinct as
County Commissioner for two terms
and has also served as office deputy
ir. the assessor’s office under Mr. Cal-
loway. He is entirely familiar with
the duties of the office and has many
friends who will work for his elec-
tion.

Park, Marshall High played a game of
ball against Rusk Junior College in
which Marshall was victorious. The
game was a hard fought one from
start to finish. The score was 8 to 4
in Marshall’s favor.

head, L. Dennis and E. Dennis. Rusk,
Mononie and Harris.

Monday morning. These ballots con-
tain the names of the 24 receiving
the highest number of votesand each
member has authority to vote for any
