Carshall Post of the American Le
gion has adopted the following Moth-
ers’ Day resolution:
“Whereas, tomorrow has been des-
ignated as Mothers’ Day, and the
whole nation will pay tribute to
Mother, the gentlest and sweetest
person ever known, and through a
special proclamation issued by Han-
ford MacNider, national commander
of the American Legion, and Wayne
Davis, commander of the Department
of Texas, urging all posts of the
American Legion to observe Mothers'
Day; Be it resolved:
“That members of Marshall Post
No. 267 of the American Legion ob-
serve Mothers’ Day by wearing the
proper designated flowers, or by writ-
ing home to mother, or in sending
mother flowers, or in any other way
that you can make mother think that
you still think her the grandest of
grand persons and still cherish and
love her. Remember:
“U Mother’s living,
A flower bright,
Of Mother’s in heaven,
A flower white.”

I believe that labor has as much
right to organize to protect their bus-
iness and trade as capital has to com-
bine for any undertaking or enter-
prise. I feel that both capital and
labor should be given a fair and im-
partial consideration, having in mind
in the passage of laws the one great
tenon and other immortals. I am
■ against all others.
Yours very truly,
J. G. STRONG,
Candidate for State Senator 8th Dis-
trict of Texas.

game of the series with Hirsch and
Lehman of the Shreveport City Lea-

starter for the basebail season here,
as a number of prospective Crackers
are here and will be in the line-up.
Albright, Lawton (pitcher). Holder,
Crawford, Ben Pulley, Red Willis,
Humphrey, Harmon and McGilvaryd
will appear in the line-up. This gives
promise of being a fast baseball game
as all who are in the line-up have
alreay been playing this year and are
limbered up enough to stand strenu-
ous work.

as. It seems that we really haven’t .
« laws in many parts of the MOTHERS DAY TO
thought-the beat for the people in
general. Capital snoud have a fair
return on its investment and at the
same time I feel that the laboring
man la entitled to more than a living.
I know that there are too many
offices and other bureaus of employ-
ment in our government. Some of
these should be abolished. I feel that
in many instances there are two peo-
ple working on one man’s job. I shall
favor a senate committee to make a
thorough investigation of the various
departments at the state capital and
other state institutions with the view
at decreasing the number of employee
if possible. I believe that the railroad
commission should be abolished un-
less the federal government will give
back to the various states the power
to regulate its own railroads. I be
lieve that the Bureau of Warehouae
and Marketa should be abolished (but
this opinion is based somely upon the
good it has done and promises to do
for East Texas.) There are many
things that our legislature should look
into. The time has come when we
must save the peoples’ money as we
would save our own.
It is possibly useless to say so, but
I have always favored prohibition and
equal suffrage and always will so
long as there is any cause to.
I believe in law and order. I rev-
erence the Constitution of our state
and nation and the laws of the lan 1.
I believe in personal liberty and free-
dom of speech as guaranteed to us
as American citizens. I hold sacred
the right of the trial by jury. I owe
allegiance to but one government, it
is neither imperial or invisible, nor
