Washington, May 25.—A new pro-
cess for making cane syrup that will
not readily ferment or crystalize was
used commercially throughout the
cane-producing sections of the South
during the season just closed, says the
Bureau of Chemistry, United States
Department of Agriculture, which has
been assisting cane-syrup manufactur-
ers by applying the science of chemis-
try to their problems. Letters receiv-
ed recently from many manufacturers
in different sections of the South

charter of the Marshall 'Country club
and a meeting will be held in the
council chamber of the city hall Fri-
day afternoon at 4 p. m. for the pur-
pose of electing officers and appoint-
ing the various committees necessary
to finish the work of putting the club
grounds into condition.
At this hour all persons who have
wubseribed for membership are re-
quested to be present so taht every-
one will be represented at the initial
meeting.
During the coming week it is pro-
posed to start work on the club house
and keeper’s house and to make a
start on other necessary work.

eral Land Bank of Houston is well
supplied with funds to take care of
all the farmers in Texas who wish to
borrow money for purposes specified
under the provisions of the Farm
