Mrs. Helen Hovey, Dean of
Women, has announced that she
has co-authored a book entitled
" FAMILY MEALS AND HOSPI-
'TALITY, a Home Economics
textbook, with Mrs.- Gladys.
Peckham, Mrs. Hovey and Mrs.
.Peckham were personal friiends
in college' and while both were/
on the faculty of New York Uni-
versity, they', "decided to write
their book. ■ '
The Book "is in its fourth re-
vision — due to public demaricis
and updating by a complete re-
working of the book. .Writing the
revision called for a year of re-:..
search and rewriting the book.
In 1950 the book was first pub-
lished by the Macmiilan Com-
pany in^ew York. A hundred
pages have been devoted to color
illustrations with approximately,
600 p&ges in the book.
In June the revised book Will
. gor to press and will be out for
public use sometime in 1967.
High schools throughout the
U. S. have adopted and will be
•using the' book as. a standard
text. , Also England, Canada,
:Puerto Rico are among foreign
countries adopting it,
FAMILY MEALS AND HOS-
PITALITY is One of five books
that- Mrs, Hovey has either au-
thored or co-authored. The pro-
fessional touch that Mrs. Hovey
lias acquired is -a result of her
college training and free lance
"■writing for Cornell University.
Also she gained other experi-
ence from reading and evaluat-
ing for several publishers.
She attributes a great deal of
help to her husband, who en-
couraged and backed her.
At one time, the Chinese sol-
