Lord because He did not blame Mary. Ill
SECOND E
Mary is the great OUTSTANDING I I
example of INTELLIGENT service. E
There are SEVEN things about her. |
First
The SUPREME thing about her I
was that “SHE HEARD Hrs WORD." F
She was the right kind of a Biblell
student.
Luke 10:39—“And HEARD HISIF
WORD.” That kind of HEARING is I
THE great virtue in Christian service.
She came to "understand" HISII
WILL and His PURPOSES. She nev-
er "wasted" her energies upon mere-1
ly “good"things but devoted them to
the BEST thing.
Col. 1:9—"That ye be filled with ,
the knowledge of HIS WILL in all I ■
WISDOM and SPIRITUAL under-
standing.”
First -
Unrestful service.
Luke 10:40—“But Martha was
CUMBERED about much serving.”
The margin of the Revised Version
reads "DISTRACTED."
Luke 10:41—“Martha, Martha, thou
art careFUL — ‘ANXIOUS’ and
TROUBLED about many things.”
Worried and peevish and excited and
fussy, all DISTRACTED and upset.
Marthes do not make “happy” homes
or happy churches or “fruitful”
Christian workers.
Col. 1:10—“Fruitful in every good
work.” Not FRETFUL!
Second
She called the Lord in question and
DICTATED to Him?
Luke 10:40—"Lord, dost THOU not
care? that my sister hath left me
alone to serve? BID HER therefore
. .. : «
Fifth
She ‘WON SOULS.” |
John 11:45—"And many of the
Jews which came to “Martha? No.
“which came to MARY and had seen
the things which Jesus did BELIEV CD
on Him."
-- F=f= P'
E=E
FIRST
Mary and Martha. Martha was
wrong and Mary was RIGHT! Do
not try to “wed” these two ONE. The
Lord Jesus "separated” them, and
‘What God puts asunder let not man
join together.” Was it because Mar-
tna was busy and active and ener-
getic that she wus blamed? Certain-
ly NO1 Was it becuse Mary wus
idle (which of course is NOT TRUE
(or she was si busy and active end
energetic as Martha was, as we shall
sec) that she was praised? NO! rris
is all irrelevant. What was the mat-
ter with Martha ? Two things.
