Horticulture Club members tie ribbons
For Homecoming:
Glub makes TSU mums
Members of the Tarleton Hor-
ticulture Club are going to be busy for
the next few weeks working on mums
for Homecoming. The club makes the
corsages for a fund-raising project
each year.
Last year the club sold the mums
with Gamma Sigma Sigma sorority.
They worked long hours on the mums
and sold over 100 for the Homecoming
game. The money from sales is used for
transportation to horticulture contests
and for trips made by the club.
The mums are made by steps and the
students stay up until early in the morn-
ing the day of the game making last
minute finishing touches on the cor-
sages. The flowers used have to be
refrigerated and cannot be put on the
finished project until the last minute.
Students come to the Horticulture
Center when they can and work.
This year, the mums will be sold for
$10 for a single flower and $20 for a dou-
ble., These are base prices and do not in-
clude extras such as braided ribbons
and bells.
The club has about fifteen members
this year. Officers are Greg Meadlin,
president; Ronnie Mund, vice-
president; Kevin McConal, reporter'
Pam Wright, secretary-treasurer;
David Navarro, Sgt.-at-arms and Con-
nie Fox, faculty sponsor
