Dear Editor:
Enclosed is my renewal for the
Allen American, I enjoy so much.
I miss the Hart to Heart Column.
Have been hoping Mrs. Hart or

years. Henry Cundiff has a garden which grows eggplant, bell

Can you think of others?
Dear Editor:
Next to your editorial of August 17
concerning what is it about the
American people that glamorizes
cheating and lawbreaking was a
letter to the editor concerning school
dress codes. The writer posed a
question which I think needs to be
dealt with. That question was, “As
for this code and the code for
sideburns, mustaches, etc., I think
the teachers should abide by it too.
This generation wants truth and
honesty from us, so in order to get
their respect we should practice what
we preach.”
I would be most curious to hear the
Grocery in McKinney. This makes it
easy for every resident in the county
to shop at a Moseley store. And it
gives them even more buying power.
Expansion of the Allen store is due
for completion later this year.

help, she added, by giving of their
time to support the giving of the
most precious gift of all - the Breath

MORE CHANGES are coming to
The American as we try even harder
to bring Allen the best newspaper
possible.
A major change will be in
appearance with a new 6-column
wide format. The 6-column look now
appears on the first and second
pages and offers better readability
and better display of advertising,
pictures and news stories.
The American was the first
newspaper in the area to use 6
columns on page 1. Now several
others, including the Dallas Morning
News, have switched to the modern
style.
We figure what’s good for page 1 is
good for the entire newspaper and on
September 7 we’ll make the switch.
Biggest bonus will be for ad-
vertisers, who will get 33 and 1-3

ANOTHER blood drive is being
planned by the Allen Jaycees. Pete
Yurgensen will head the campaign,
which is designed to give every Allen
resident access to free blood
whenever the need arises.
Of course, this takes the co-
operation of a hundred or so Allenites
who are willing to give a few minutes
of their time and a few drops of
blood.
The Wadley unit will be in Allen
September 20 to accept donations to

matter what the rental or lease
agreement may say, a tenant cannot
lose, or give up these rights.
One main non-negotiable area
deals with security deposits. Security
deposits must be refunded by the
landlord to the tenant within 30 days
after he moves out. A lease can
require you to give advance notice,
however, and if you do not, the
landlord may refuse to return your
deposit. Likewise, if you move out
owing rent, the landlord may keep a
portion of your deposit to cover the
unpaid rent.
The landlord may only deduct
money for “actual damages” to the
property, not for “normal wear and
tear.” If you’ve lived in an

Landlords and tenants usually sign
