New members accepted
by Block and Bridle Club
By ROBERT PARKEY
B & B Club Reporter
After a week of intense activity,
the Tarleton State University
Chapter of Block and Bridle was
'honored to welcome 81 members in-
to the organization.
These young men and women
began their initiation week on Mon-
day, September 21, with the week-
long "ordeal" of wearing the
familiar "BV' that had been
decorated over the weekend. These
"B's" required the signatures of
more than thirty specific individuals
around the campus, including the
president of the university, the stu-
dent body president, and Block and
■ Bridle officers and sponsors, Ag.
and non-Ag. faculty and many more,
j On the evenings of the 21 and 22,
the initiates met at the school farm
to fulfill the service requirement of
their week by performing chores that
the farm staff had prepared for them.
Wednesday evening brought "Fun
Night," and the new members com-
peted in games, such as the egg toss,
tug-o-war, and the dreaded "Dizzy
Lizzy." They also presented skits
and songs for the sponsors and old
members present.
Special recognition was given to
the winners of the "Best B" contest,
for outstanding effort in decoration
of their "B's." Winners included:
Most Original B - Carrie Prater,
Most Artistic - Tracy Fuller, and
Neatest in Appearance - Kelly Bell.
Honorable mention was also given
to Cindy Combs, Robert Dovel,
Renee Schnidergan and Leigh
McTee.
Thursday night brought the of-
ficial initiation ceremony, followed
by a special welcome party and
Block and Bridle Night at the Dodge
House.
The club would like to extend a
special thanks to the following in-
dividuals for making initiation week
a big success: Mr. Randy Hines and
Mr. Stanley Westbrook - Club spon-
sors, Dr. Weldon Newton, Mr.
Eugene Edgington - Farm Manager,
the Dodge House, and Dr. Barry
Thompson - for graciously giving his
time signing the initiate's "B's."
Upcoming activities include
decorating the Homecoming float
and the next regular meeting on Oc-
tober 7. Members need to contact the
club officers regarding the float.

B & B initiation took place this last week.
These initiates are painting a large sign with
very, very small paint brushes. This is just

one of the many activities that they must take
part in during the week-long initiation into one
of the largest organizations here at TSU.
