Teen-Age Baseball »
The Baytown Teen-Age Base-
ball League season began Wed-
nesday of this week with a big
kick-off parade down Texas Ave-

floats, bands and marchers let
spectators know the youngsters
were ready to play ball.
The five young ladies pic-

They are, left to right, June

Lucy Pryor, Reproduction de-

Electricians met the first real
challenge to their leadership of
the Hot Water Softball League

wins and one loss. Clyde Hughes
was the winning pitcher and Pele
Golla, the loser. Merle Burch led
the Electricians in hilling with a
big home run to his credit.
It was the first encounter of

For the first time in the
history of Robert E. Lee High
School, a Gander baseball
team has reached the slate
meet. Wednesday of this week,
a fired-up Lee nine stormed into
Austin in search of Bulldog
blood. They met and defeated
the highly touted John Reagan
team from Houston, 6-1.
A lanky young hurler from
Lee named Donnie Hullum al-
lowed only two hits and struck
out nine batters as he led the
Ganders to their semi-final vic-
tory. Cheering him on from the
stands was his father, Lee Hul-
lum of the Welding department.
The Ganders were scheduled
to face Paris in another playoff
game at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Donnie, a senior with three
letters in baseball and a couple
in football, had a pitching record
of 13 wins and 4 losses as he
went into the semi final game.
His batting record of .333 is also
impressive.
As a sophomore, Donnie
shared a no hitter with Gerald
Orton in 1953. Orton pitched the
