As part of the Carthage Cen-
tennial birthday celebration 'Un-
cle'' Lawson Morgan, an aged
darkey, was paid $100 for being
the oldest Panola County citizen.
He was 106-years-old.
Carswell Ellis, a six-foot, two-
inch CHS athlete, participated in
the Centennial Parade as an In-
dian chief. Hundreds of men,
women and children par-'
ticipated on horseback in the
parade. The Garden Club won
the $100 first prize award for
having the best decorated float.
