Court Prohibiting the Sale of Intox-
icating Liquors in Deaf
Smith County.
Be ti remembered;-That on the 19th day
of October A. D. 1901, there was began an d
holden a special term of the Hon. Commis-
sioners court of Dsaf Smith county, Texas,
for the purpose of opening the polls and cou
nting the votes cast at an eelction held Oct-
ober 5th A. D. 1901, for the purpoae of de-
termning whether or not the sale of intoxicat-
ing liqors shall be prohibeted in Deaf Smith
county, Texas at which the Hon. W. B.4
Boyd, County Judge, was presiding and R.N
Mounts Commissioner of Pricenct No. 2.
and Ira Aten, Commissioner of Precinct.
No. 3 were present and County clerk F. B.
Fuller, and Sheriff J. T. Inmon
were in attendance when the following proc
eedings were had, to-wit:
The court procceed to open the polls an
canvass the returns of the said special Ele-
ction, which said canvass shows the rpsult of
the ballot to be 105 votes for prohibition and
86 votes against prohibition. It appearing
that of the total vote cast in Deaf Smith Co-
unty at said election there is a majority of l9
votes for prohibition.
We the Commissioners Court of Deaf
Smith County therefore declare the result of
ballot in the aforesaid election to be 105
votes for, and 86 votes against prohibition.
It is therefore ordered by this court that
the sale of intoxicating liquors, except for
the purposes and under the regulations prov-
died by law, under title 69 of the revised
statutes, be and the same is prohibited in
Deaf Smith county, Texas, until such time
as the qualified voters there-in, may at a
legal election held for that purpose by a
majority vote decide otherwise.
The foregoing minutes read and ap-
proved in open court; It is ordered that
this coarbdo now stand adjourned.
