You may sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake at 350° for 30
minutes.
2 cups milk
% cup butter
% cup flour
Salt and pepper to taste
1 quart Half and Half
Drain juice from clams into large pan. Add the vegetables and
sugar. Add enough water to just cover vegetables. Simmer until
tender.
Make a white sauce by melting butter in saucepan. Add the
flour, salt and pepper. Stir. Add the milk and allow to thicken. Pour
sauce and Half and Half in with other ingredients and simmer. If
too thick, I add more milk.
Between teaching school and being married to the chief of police,
Sandy Carroll’s schedule leaves very little time for complicated
meals.
“I basically enjoy cooking whatever my family and guests will
eat and enjoy,” she says.
“Friends and party guests enjoy the mushrooms and party
snacks and the kids really go for the popsicles,” she adds.
Sandy and her husband, Richard have lived in Allen for about

4 cans water
2 packages spaghetti sauce mix
1 pound Mozzarella cheese
2 12-ounce cartons small curd cottage cheese
2-3 teaspoons chopped, dried parsley flakes
Parmesan cheese
Cook lasagne until tender, about 10 minutes. Let stand in cold
water until needed.
For meat filling, brown meat with seasonings and drain. To this,
add tomato paste, water and spaghetti sauce mix. Simmer 10-15
minutes.
For cheese filling, grate mozzarella cheese adding cottage cheese

Brown sausage and drain. In double boiler, melt cheese and add 2 teaspoons vanilla
oregano and garlic salt. When cheese is melted, add sausage and 1 cup buttermilk

MARINATED MUSHROOMS
1 pound small fresh mushrooms or 2-3 cans button mushrooms
drained
V2 teaspoon salt
% teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon oregano
% cup red wine vinegar
1 cup olive oil or salad oil
Parsley flakes
Fresh onion rings
Wipe mushrooms with a damp cloth. Trim stem end of
mushrooms. Mix remaining ingredients. Add to mushrooms and
toss until are well coated with marinade. Let stand at room
temperature for at least four hours.
1 teaspoon salt
Melt chocolate over hot water. Set aside to cool. Cream sugar and
shortening and add eggs, flavoring, buttermilk and vanilla.
Add the dry ingredients and mix well. Blend in chocolate.
Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 300° for 1%2
hours. Remove from pan while still warm and place under tight fit-
ting cover until completely cooled. Glaze if desired.
GLAZE
Melt one bar German Sweet Chocolate and one tablespoon
shortening in % cup water over low heat.
Mix one cup powdered sugar and dash of salt. Blend in chocolate
mixture and %2 teaspoon vanilla.
