For JWrs. Maynard
Funersi services for Mrs. Cel-
estia Bolton Maynard, 69. were
held Monday afternoon at the As-
sembly of God Church in Lake
Dallas, with the Rev. B. P. Car-
roll, pastor, in charge. He was
assisted by H. A. Johnson of Den-
ton.
Burial was in Chinn Chapel
Cemetery, under the direction of
Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral
Home. Pallbearers were I. R. El-
kins, Roy V. Harper, A. L. Harper,
Johnny J. Vinson, H. H. Farrow
and Charles Hanson.
Mrs. Maynard, a resident of
Lake Dallas, died Sunday morning
at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Irene Harper, in Lewisville. She
had suffered sn extended illness.
Born at Bartonville on May 9,
1885, Mrs. Maynard attended Chinn
Chapel School and in 1900 was
married to the late Walter Lee
Maynard. She was a lifetime resi-
dent of the county and a member
of the Assembly of God Church.

Rites Held For
Former Resident
Final rites for Mrs. Almeda
Flannagan, 89, former Denton resi-
dent, were conducted Monday after-
noon in Goen Funeral Chapel, with
the Rev. J. L. Roden of Highland
Street Baptist Church in charge.
Burial was in Trinity Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Houston Eg-
gleston, Ray Parker, C. T. Toomer,
Jack Maples, W. H. Maples and
Stacy Jennings, all of Denton.
Mrs. Flannagan died Saturday
afternoon in a Wichita Falla hos-
pital, after an extended illness.
Among her survivors are Mrs.
Houston Eggleston, Mrs. Boss
Toomer, Mrs. D. C. Bullsrd and
Stacy Jennings, all grandchildren
of Denton.

Announcement of the 1954 corn
loan rate is expected within the
next several days, Shirley Taylor,
manager Of the Denton County Ag-
ricultural Stabilization office said
today.
Corn is being harvested over
much of the county, especially in
the eastern section, and many
farmers have been inquiring about
the loan rate, Taylor said.
“We can advise them to go ahead
and crib their com,” Taylor com-
mented. “We are almost certain
that the loan rate will be some-
where in the neighborhood of
$1.60."
The 1953 loan rate was 81.67 per
bushel.

Three Grass Fires
Dot Report Here
Three grass fires dotted tho re-
ports of Denton firemen Monday
but none of the three resulted in
serious damage.
At 9:40 a.m. the first call was
to 725 North Elm and at 1:20 p.m.
trucks went to 315 Pesrl.
The last alarm of the dsy was a
2:55 p.m. when firemen were
celled to 1009 Shermsn Drive to
put out a blaze that had spread
across the lots behind two homes.

nounced he planned to fire present
members of more than 100 state
boards and agencies. He added:
"No candidate in Texas political
history has ever threatened auch
a brazen attempt to establish a
personal patronage ring aa a pay-
off for campaign obligations . . .
My opponent intends to overthrow
Texas tradition and seize absolute
power over the executive depart-
ments, if he is elected.”
Yarborough has said "stacks of
contracts" had been awarded the
Times Publishing Co. of Mission
“since my opponent became gov-
ernor."
In a TV appearance from Dallas
Monday night, Yarborourh blamed
“lon< tenure in office” for what
he termed "this contempt for law,
and utter contempt for the consti-
tution.”
