There are many things which must
be done; but it is the- unnecessary
things- the extra, uncalled for bur-
den* that break us down. If one
would go ever the days' supposed
duties, marking out each one that can
be dispensed with; go over the list
yet again, still further cutting it down,
until the really needful lira before
you in all its bareness, it will great-

Th* Girl With Thin Arms.
A private pointer for the long, slen-
der-armed girl:
Don't fall into the snare of dressing
your bony elbows with what the fash-
ion books call "softening frills ot
lace.”
Don't you believe it:
Tiiat frill will fall over the very
curve you wish to display and fall
away from the hollow you wish to
hide.
Fix the bottom of your elbow sleeves
with a close band, Of blaok or dark-
colored ribbon; let it be quite snug se
that what little flesh there is there
will swell out impressively.
The plain turnback elbow cuff gives
the same effect and there is bound to
be some taper to your arm if the out-
lines are clearly defined.
Try it and see.

“For Today*
Strength for today is all that we need:
There will never be a tomorrow;
Tomorrow will prove but another today.
With its measure of joy and of sorrow.
Strength for today that the weary hearts
in the battle for right may quail not:
That the eyes bedimmed with bitter
tears,
in their search for the true may fafl
not
Strength for today, for the weary feet
On the down-hill track near the val-
ley.
That the morrow may find them climb-
ing up
To the height* where they may rally.
Strength for today, that our joyous
youth
May happily shun temptation;
I And build from the rise to the set of
sun.
On a sure and strong foundation.
Strength for today, in the house and
L home, _ . -
To practice forbearance sweetly—
To scatter kind word* and loving deeds.
Still trusting God's love completely.
Strength for the head and heart and
soul—
j For the burdens of joy or sorrow—
Strength for the path, whether smooth
or rough—
There will never be a tomorrow. .

Fanhion Requires Braidleg.
The fashion of braiding grows apach,
newer and more intricate ways of do-
ing it coming to light all the while and
new braids furnishing excuse for yet
other treatments.
That flat silk braid so popular in the
early spring season, still holds its own
splendidly. With the little drawing
thread hidden away at one edge, it 18
pulled Into all sorts of waving figures
or put on in an Involved scrollwork.
One version of it has a heavy cord,
which makes a silky bar stand high
upon the surface, that crosses and rez
crosses .until a well-defined diamond
design is the result. pon tome of the
prettiest suits (and dresses, too, tor
that matter) a wide braid is put on
quite simply, outlined on both sides by
a narrow braid, which stops every lit-
tle while to describe a tiny circle.
Some stunning braids come in Per-
sian designs and colorings, used, tor
the most part, to make tiny vests (or
vestees) upon bolero* ot Eton jackets,
or upon the summer evening and driv.
