At critical periods today the local in-

with the fact that the Dallas bunch was
lucky enough to get long hits for extra

Temple, Texas, May 19—(Speclal.)-
Another meeting of bassball fans and
others interested in the maintenance of
profes ional basebalt in Temple was
held here last night, President J. D.
Roberts of the Texas league being a
party to the conference. It was finally
determined to organtze a local stock
company to purchase the tesm and
franchise outright from Manager J. K.
Edens and operate same solely by local
people hereafter. Manager Edens has
been at a great loss so far this season
and his failure is attributed to the
fact that no local people were directly
interested as was the case last season
when the tesm made money.

Orfielais Eleeted for Coming Year and
Other Business Transneted.
Oklahoma City, O. T., May 19.—(Spe-
cial.)—At the business meeting of the
Southwestern Intercollegiate Athletic
association the following officers for
the next year were elected: President,
W. W. Campbell, Trinity university,
Waxahachie Texas; vice president.
Professor W. W. Garrett. Missouri
School of Mines, Holla, Mo.; secretary-
treasurer. J. P. Houser, University of
Texas, Austin. The president and sec.
rotary-treasurer with the following
three constitute the executive commit,
tee: F. A. McCoy, Agricultural and Me-
chanical ’ college, Oklahoma; Guy G.
Frary. Fort Worth university, Fort
Worth university, Fort Worth; Dr. W.
B. Daniels, Baylor university, Waco.
A change in the constitution was
made to the effect that if a student
takes the baccalaureate degree from
any institution of college rank he shall
not be eligible to compete in this as-
sociation. A committee was appointed
to draw up an article to be incorpor-
ated in the by-laws distinguishing be-
tween the amateur, professional and
the college athlete. It is the purpose
of ths association to prosecute every
line looking toward absolutely clean
college sports.
The by-laws are so changed as to
make the time of the annual track
meet flexible—either the second or
third week in May, according to the
vote of the executive committee. Ap-
plications were received from a num-
ber of schools in the Southwest for
admission into the association, but
were rejected because their curicculuna
was not up to the requirements. Tha
president, vice president and secretary-
treasurer were constituted a standing
committee to confre with the univorei-
ties of Arkansas, Kansas and Colorado
in the effort to bring them Into the
ussociation.
The report of the secretary-treasurer
for the past year showed the associa-
tion to be in good condition finan-
cially. •

Cleburne, Texas"May 19.—(Special.)
The Cleburne Railroaders shut Hie
Greenville Hunters out today by a score
of 9 to 9. Tiie game started in with
a squabble but it soon passed over and
the boys got down to ball pmying.
In the ■ second inning Whiteman
struck a three-bagger to deep center
which was the best ever made on a
Cleburne diamond. From then until
the sixth inning the game was uain-
terestIng. In the sixth the flreworks
opened up with Moran striking a two-
bagger. Shelton brought Moran In and
went to second, whiteman brought
in Shelton with a three-bagger and
was in turn brought in with a two-
bagger by Wright. This ended the first
half of the sixth, but did not end the
good ball playing by Cleburne, for as
soon as Greenville had been retired
with a big goose egg. Shelton opened
up the pyrotechnics again with a
three-bagger which brought Moran
home from first, Shelton stopping on
third. Poindexter followed with a
three-bagger and took the station
Shelton had vacated. The Hunters
wzere hoodooed and in the seventh and
evhth Cleburne registered three each.
w"lle goose eggs were the Hunters'
portion. The game was so uneven
toward the last that it ceased to be in-
teresting and the fans looked for Cle-
burne to make scgres as, a matter of
course and the Hunters to fail for
the same reason. The score: .
