WASHINGTON o - President
Elsenhower's second physical cri-
sis in nine months will force voters
to think again of what they asked
themselves the first time: Should
he be given another four - year
* term?
The question does not arise out
of lack of confidence in Eisenhow-
er a honest opinion of what he
thinks is beat for himself and the
country. He has said he will frank*
ly say if he's not up to another
four years.
But he is a man of 65, carrying
the enormous burden of the pres-
dency. He would turn 70 before
* the end of a second term. He has
had two major illnesses within
these nine months: a heart attack
and an intestinad block.*
Because of the great public ilk
Ing for him and trust in his Judg:
ment, questions about his physical
ri moos quieted down once ho Mid
the heart attack that he felt he
could stand another four White
House years.
But now, in view of this second
Ulness. voters cannot help asking
‘themselyes this qusetion, even
though he may again say he feels
able to run for re-electlon:

The doctors have Mid there is
no connection between the two ill-
nesses, and they have boon almost
enthusiastically optimistic about
his ability to run again. And Ei-
senhower has shown remarkable
recuperative powers.
In fairness to himself and to the
country he probably will wait un-
til he is back on his job full-time
before saying far the second time
whether he will try for re-election.
That will be mid-July. Until then
he will leave Democrats and Re-
publicans with their tongues hang-
ing out—but wagging—In opposite
expectation, tho Republieans
knowing their boat hope la Eisen-
hower, the Democrats knowing
their boot hope, is anybody else.

The United Nations says that it
spent a record $25,800,000 in 1955
on its technical assistance pro-

Seventy-three governments have
promised IM.84l.0M to finance the

contributor la the United States,
which has pledged up to UH mil-
lions to match the grants of other
countries, dollar for dollar.
The program wm started in
mid-1950. Its previous biggest
year was 1982, when 33 million
dollars was spent.
The U.N. bat year sent 3.004
foreign experts to 101 countries
or territories to help improve
their farming, mining, industry,
health. education or other activi-
ties. The program financed study
abroad for 1,303 persons.
For the first time the program

to release them was then canceled.
Hall told the House Armed Serv-
ices investigating subcommittee
he authorised giving the Informa-
tion to Kenneth Simmons who he
said had telephoned and identified
himself as Mayor of Avinger, Tex.
Since the inquiry came from
"the mayor of a small city ,* Hall
said. "I thought the Information
would not bo used for any purpose
other than patriotic."
The subcommittee at earlier
hearings received testimony that
Simmons obtained lists of men
for early induction and sought out
insurance purchase prospects.
Simmons. no longer mayor of
Avinger, is a candidate n the
forthcoming Texas Democratic
primary for the congressional seat
occupied by Rep. Wright Patman.
Hall said authority to give out
the names was contained in a let-

Donkey Delimna
NORFOLK, Va. (F - Ashley
Haycox, on a Carribean cruise,
bought a donkey in Jamaica. But
the Miler and the donkey disap-
pearod before sailing time. Then
.he reappeared with the donkey
and a new-born donkey. Dutch
crewmen hoisted mama and baby
aboard.
Happy ending? Not quite. Hay.
eox learned here that he couldn't
land the donkeys because there
had to be a quarantine period.
The donkeys continued to New
York. Haycox will get 'em by
paying the fare from New York.
