possibly accounts for it.
Rains Scattred
The rains we have been having
recently have been rather scatter-
ing and some parts of the county
is getting rather dry again but it is
the wish of the most of them that
the weather remain dry until the
grain can all be saved. There is not
any cause for immediate alarm but
when it begins to get dry at this
time of the year everybody gets
a saving of about $10,000,000 a
year. This amount will provide
the needed funds for pensions, etc.”
Charging that the administration
of the old age pension law is a
disgrace to Texas, Brooks stated
that he was in favor of placing its

two more long, hot months to go.
I got rather warm today as I went
about my work but counted my-
self fortunate as I thought of the
boys that were working at the
thresher. Most of the threshing
machines were running today and
if open weather continues it will
scon be over as there are a large
number of machines in the coun-

about the average yield as the
wheat is making anywhere from
three to twenty bushels. The oats
that have been threshed have real-

the producer. I have been work-

disappointment out there because
of the wheat yield, but they had
