By DOROTHY RICKER
Dear Mrs. Ricker:
I really don’t know how to start
this letter but first I’ll tell you I
am 15 and a sophomore in high
school. A couple of years ago I
got mixed up with a very bad
crowd and as a result I acquir-
ed a bad reputation. After a while
my reputation died down and I
met a very nice boy.
We went together until he heard
about my former reputation then
he dropped me flat. This hurt me
very much and I tried to explain
things to him but he wouldn’t lis-
ten. I’ve been trying to forget him
The other night I was walking
down the street and met a girl I
went around with two years ago.
She started an argument and call-
ed me a dirty name. I slapped
Dear June:
If you invite a boy to a picnic
you should pack enough lunch for
two. You don’t have to ask him
what he would like to have to eat
but I think it would be the con-
siderate thing to do. Knowing the
average teen-age boy’s appetite I
suggest that you make sure to
take along plenty of food.

Because it can advertise, a company can offer improved prod-
ucts or better prices to anyone in the nation, and quickly obtain
the advantages of mass production. Because they can advertise,
companies in America have provided the good life for practically
everybody. Can any other nation say as much?

in effect, the plebiscite voters—
from both West and East Ger- 1
many—would be deciding whether I
they want to follow Soviet or Al-
lied policy.
For years Soviet Premier Nikita
Khrushchev has been campaign-
ing for separate peace treaties,
which would freeze the division of
Germany. On the other hand, the
Western powers say they want a
single treaty with a united Ger-
many.
For some months Herter has
been thinking of the plebiscite as
a possible proposal for the West-
ern leaders when they meet with
Khrushchev at the East-West sum-
mit conference in Paris beginning
May 16.
The idea has been tossed around
by representatives of the United
States, Britain, France, and West
Germany in the past few weeks
as they have exchanged views on
summit policy.
If a plebiscite were held. West-
ern leaders are convinced the Ger-
mans would vote for unification
and a single peace treaty.

Dear Ruby:
Your current difficulties are just
a continuation of the penalties for
your former association with a
bad crowd. The passing of time,
with faultless behavior on your
part, is the only way to overcome
your past reputation.
Unfortunately your efforts to
attain a nice girl reputation receiv-
ed a severe setback when you lost
your temper and slapped the girl’s
face. Now you will have to live
that down, too.
You see, Ruby, if you want to
be accepted as a lady you must
act like one—not just part time
but always. A lady just doesn’t get
into street fights under any cir-
cumstances except, of course, in
case of self-defense.
Because of your past reputation
it will be doubly hard to convince
others that you really have chang-
ed. But the fact that you are so
worried about your present trou-
bles is proof to me that you are
truly sincere. If I am right you
will work things out in time. For
the present, however, you must
grit your teeth and make a de-
termined effort to be a refined,
nice girl at all times. You can do
it if you try hard enough. Good
luck.

NEW YORK (AP)—Police have
arrested two more alleged pig,
latin bandits and charged them
with robbing the Chilean ambas-
sador to the United Nations.
Coleman Lally, 30, and John
Moran, 31, were arrested at their
homes this week. Police said they
made admissions about the Feb.
13 robbery of Ambassador Daniel
Schweitzer.
Three men broke into Schweitz-
er’s home, took $181 in cash and a
bottle of champagne, and asked
the ambassador if he was Jewish.
When Schweitzer replied he was,
they forced him to give the Nazi
salute and shout "Hell Hitler!”
Schweitzer thought the men
spoke a foreign language, but po-
lice decided it was pig latin—

english words. This clue led to the
arrest Monday night of Joseph
Edward Cullan, 29. who had
robbed the same apartment be-
