a It was left to the Twentieth cen-

An 11-year-old boy, a street
urchin with a gifted line of chat-
ter, hit Gainesville Thursday and
really “went to town.”
He accosted a group of men on
a downtown street comer, and ex-
plained to them that he had never
seen them before. Then he prom-
ised to tell—for just a dime- what
their first nickname was who
was their first love, what state
they were born in, where they got
their hat and here they got their
shoes.
“Shoot," answered the men, “no
fortune teller ever did that well.”
“Your first nickname was baby,”
returned the youth, “your first
love was your mother; you were
born in a state of infancy; you got
your hat on your head and your
shoes on your feet.”
The men paid him their dimes.
Reported to have been in sev-
eral east Texas towns several
weeks ago, the lad gave his home
Thursday at Cameron, Texas.
