Texas political leader, Carrillo
and seven associates accused of
converting school funds.
Cabellero said he operated a
Continental Oil Co. service station
in Benavides in 1952 and 1953. He
said he accepted the school dis-
trict’s card for gasoline for an
auto and a pickup truck owned
by Carrillo.
He said the truck was driven
by Beto Segura and Lorenzo Ba-

ployes at a ranch operated by Car-

identified as a deputy sheriff.
Cabellero said Carrillo had told
him the men were working for
him. •
"Were they working for him or
for the school district?" Defense
Atty. Percy Foreman asked.

belief in the dignity of the individ-

Highway Commissioner
Marshall Formby said more rev-
enues are needed if Texas is to
carry out its proposed program.
He said the contemplated 10-
year program for primary roads
will cost 350 million dollars for
rights-of-way and two and a half
billion dollars for construction.
With revenues at their current
rate, he said, the program will re-
quire 20 years.
"We can see a possible solution
for the purchase of the remainder
of the right-of-way on the 2,900
mile interstate system in Texas,
because the federal government
will put I up 90 per cent of this
right-of-way purchase money. But
we still need hundreds of miles
of new right-of-way for our trunk
line system in Texas,” he said.
"The primary, or truck line
system consists of 22,800 miles of
roads, and these roads are the
ones the people travel over most-
ly,” he said.
