Whenever it rains the people of
Brownsville are forcibly reminded of
the fact that until we have a sewer
system the streets of this city can-
not be well drained. The sewers must
be built as quickly as possible.
About the hungriest and at the
same time the busiest individual in
Brownsville lately is the tiny green
bug which has been devouring the
foliage on many garden plants about
town.

The Corpus Christi team left for
home this morning. The locals hope
to meet them again on the diamond
in order to even up the score with
them as Corpus still has one more
game than Brownsville in the inter-
urban war which has been waged by
the two teams this year.

by lightning yesterday about noon

The enterprising .owners of the
new baseball park have cause so far
to feel gratified at the success of the
new enterprise. Each game played
here has been well attended and the
receipts jusuiy iue . nope ui;il mey
may make back the money spent on
the park. The fact that this is en
tirely a home enterprise erected by
two Brownsville boys should be a
matter of pride to the citizens of
Brownsville who should encourage
the proprietors with a liberal patronage.
